Qualifications

  • Implement TE LeanPD processes and conduct necessary engineering evaluations (PRD, QFD, DFMEA).
  • Prepare detailed documentation including designs, specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives and manage design changes until resolution.
  • Provide technical support and conduct necessary testing and engineering analyses for customers.
  • Collaborate with customers and engineering teams to deliver practical solutions and demonstrations.

Job Title: SR R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER Posting Start Date: 5/4/26 Job Description: Job Overview The Senior R&D Product Development Engineer will support the Sockets portfolio for the Data and Devices Business Unit of TE Connectivity. In this role, you will be responsible as the primary engineering contact of a US based large account customer. You will be also responsible for developing fine pitch socket products in its early phase of the development projects as the mechanical design engineer. As the primary engineering contact to the US based customer, you will need live interaction with the customer and deliver the information to Asia based socket engineering team by understanding the customer's request correctly. You will be also joining regular conference calls for the customer with Asia based socket engineering team and support the engineering discussions so that the meetings become productive. For the mechanical design role, you will be working for US based customers on developing Socket concepts and designs for new type of socket applications like for co-packaged optics sockets. The concept development work will require frequent interactions with the customers because many of the projects are proceeding as collaborative development works with the customer. You will be having the critical role to enhance the productivity of the socket development both for the customer and TE. Job Requirements As the customer interfacing engineer role of the large account o Directly respond to the engineering inquiries from the customer in timely manner, or by coordinate the response with Asia based engineering team as required o Joining the regular conference calls and support to delivering or receiving the engineering information correctly. o Acquire the customer's intent correctly may be by having additional interactions than regular conference calls and guide Asia based product engineering and plant engineering team to work toward the right direction o Provide the guidance on the documentation on its structure and the content so that the presentations can deliver Asia engineering team's intent clearly. You will often need to review it from the customer point of view As the mechanical design engineer role of the socket o Working on designing customized products for the assigned product platforms by following the direction from your team's manager o Understand the customer's technical requirements often by creating and proposing conceptual design of the sockets. Also, by interacting with US local sales and product managers. The understanding of the customer's system, i.e. semi-conductor package design and socket cramping hardware system design will be important o Provide product design proposals and the engineering data to the customers considering the product advantages, manufacturing technology background and cost structure o Find out the customer applications and its use condition for defining the reliability requirements of the Socket product o Create product models and drawings for building functional samples for the customers o Understand TE's New Product Development process and delivering the engineering outputs like tolerance analysis, risk evaluations What your background should look like • Bachelor's degree on Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Master's degree is preferred. • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a product development of connectors with mechanical design responsibility, and with direct customer design and support experience • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English • Experience in Socket product development is a strong PLUS • Capable of manipulating CAD modeling tools (Creo, SpaceClaim) • Mechanical FEM simulation capability is a plus (ANSYS) • A solid understanding of mechanical designs including GD&T, structural mechanics and manufacturing process on stamping, injection molding, plating and assembly • The basic understanding of highspeed signal integrity is a PLUS • Ability to work in a global environment, able to collaborate with individuals across geographies • Complete technical documents, including design specification, test report, engineering presentation • Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint • Knowledge in Computing/Communication systems (high-speed servers, switches, routers, storage) is a PLUS Competencies SET : Strategy, Execution, Talent (for managers) COMPENSATION • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $115,400 -$173,100 (subject to change dependent on physical location) • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
