Sr. Quality Engineer (Full Time)
Department: All Openings, Engineering, Quality

POSITION SUMMARY:

Plans, evaluates and monitors activities to develop, apply and maintain quality systems for industrial processes, materials, specifications, products, policies and procedures. Evaluate, monitor, develop and implement standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of processes and products to meet engineering and customer requirements. Investigate, recommend and implement continuous improvements to company operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Implement strategic plans initiated by the Quality Department.

Analyze nonconformance data to establish trends on recurrent nonconformity utilizing statistical tools.

Perform internal audits in accordance with Quality Assurance manual.

Interface with Engineering, customers, and suppliers on quality issues.

Investigate root cause and corrective action for discrepancies targeted.

Participate on the Corrective & Preventative Action Review Board.

Make recommendations to eliminate measurement system error.

Evaluate Piper Process Specifications (PPS), engineering drawings, and other acceptance criteria to verify quality characteristics or functions.

Analyze production and service limitations and standards; recommend the revision of specifications, policies, and procedures.

Application of statistical quality control and statistical methods for the purpose of measuring and improving the quality of processes.

Perform supplier audits, approval, disqualifications and other functions to maintain acceptable levels of supplier quality through continuous improvement.

Design, install, and evaluate process sampling systems and statistical techniques.

Recommend strategy for warranty claim issues.

Non Destructive Testing (NDT)/ Inspection

Review Quality manual to ensure recommended revision in procedure is instituted.

Perform other related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

May be required to supervise, train and assist other employees, on a project-by-project basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree in technical area, (Quality, Engineering or Manufacturing, Aeronautical or Aerospace) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing process and quality systems preferred.

Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements preferred.

A minimum of seven years within a quality capacity in a manufacturing organization preferred. Five years machining and fabrication or aircraft experience preferred.

Experience working with a recognized Quality System AS9100, ISO 9001:2000, QS 9000, TS16949 or FAA part 21 preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.
