Overview

We are seeking a motivated Sr. QC Engineer - Electrical/I&C Inspector to contribute to our mission supporting our work atSavannah River Nuclear Solutions in Aiken, SC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide quality control support to the project team and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results;
  • Perform construction quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of project and/or maintenance activities;
  • Review design output documents in accordance with approved procedures in order to establishinspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages;
  • Coordinate with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues and provide status of the inspection/test activities for the work activity;
  • Review technical criteria, personnel qualifications and work sequence on work packages including the notation of hold points prior to performance of inspections;
  • Perform or direct the quality inspection activities of subordinate QC engineers and other inspection personnel as assigned;
  • Assist in resolution of code, specifications and drawing interpretations;
  • Perform or supervise the performance of inspection, witness, test, surveillance, and documents the results of the inspection activities;
  • Assess the completeness of construction activities and quality verification documentation prior to preparation of quality control releases for turnover;
  • Review subcontractor's quality program for compliance to established procedures, attends mobilization meetings and monitors their activities for proper implementation;
  • Review suppliers and/or subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance;
  • Review, assess and status subcontractors' costs, manpower and materials;
  • Approve subcontracts invoices and application for payment;
  • Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related toelectrical and I&C, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards;
  • Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans;
  • Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue non-conformance reports;
  • Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, andother requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment; and
  • Obtain and abide by client-specific safety training and rules to ensure safety remains an integral part of each task by takingthe necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.

Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 5 years (5-7 years preferred) of practical experience in construction inspection or related area or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; an associate's degree and at least 7 years (7-9 years preferred) of practical experience; or a high school diploma and at least 10 years (10-14 years preferred) of practical experience are considered equivalent.
  • Certification with continuing technical training is required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.
  • Prior DOE work experience.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with good communication skills.

  • Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship. (required)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & LOCATION DETAILS:

  • Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months.
  • Prior experience on an Engineering procurement construction (EPC) contract.
  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
  • Duration of the Contract:( 1) Year, (2) additional option periods
  • Estimated Hours Per Year:
  • 2080 ST 600 OT
  • Anticipated Work Schedule:
    • Mon- Fri 6:30a-4:30p
  • Projects Supported: SPD
  • 100% Onsite. Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate's expense.
