Full Job Description
Sr Production Manager

Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role is responsible for leading manufacturing operations and people for one or more value streams (or a large/complex value stream), with full accountability for results in cost, methods, quality, delivery, and workforce performance. The Senior Production Manager sets the operating rhythm, develops the leadership bench across multiple layers (including supervisors and managers as applicable), and drives sustained improvements aligned to business strategy and future-state manufacturing.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:
  • Lead assigned value stream(s) to consistently achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets across shifts
  • Drive schedule attainment and flow: improve lead time and process time, reduce WIP/inventory, and optimize utilization of labor, equipment, and space
  • Establish the operating rhythm for the area (daily management, KPI reviews, tier meetings, escalation paths) and ensure disciplined execution
  • Partner with Operational Excellence to define and deliver the value stream roadmap aligned with future state and business strategy; sponsor CI sustainment
  • Partner with the Industrial Engineering team through their lead to identify improvement opportunities and request/define the data and KPIs needed to drive decisions and track results
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Customer Service to resolve constraints (materials, quality, capacity) and protect customer delivery
  • Evaluate and implement process, technology, and equipment improvements to increase throughput, productivity, and profitability (including business cases/ROI when applicable)
  • Lead, coach, and develop a multi-layer organization (supervisors, team leaders, hourly workforce, and• where applicable• other people leaders/managers); drive accountability, engagement, and talent development
  • Ensure quality execution through robust containment, corrective actions, and prevention of recurrence for operational and mechanical issues
  • Support annual budget planning and compliance; manage key cost drivers (labor, overtime, productivity) and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure performance management routines are executed on time (goals, coaching, reviews, compensation inputs as applicable) and review disciplinary actions for consistency and policy compliance
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate Safety Policies, OSHA and EPA standards; lead incident response, emergency resolution, and business continuity for the department
  • Help drive daily alignment between production and warehouse/logistics, ensuring priorities, constraints, and execution plans are synchronized to protect delivery

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a manufacturing-related field
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including experience leading through supervisors (experience leading other managers is a plus)
  • 7• 10 years of experience in a low volume/high mix, engineered and built-to-order manufacturing environment (or comparable complexity)
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on leadership in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S/6S, 3P/5P and other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proven track record of initiative, structured problem-solving, and implementation of measurable improvements
  • Experience working with customized engineered products
  • Strong decision-making and problem/situation analysis skills
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments to support business objectives
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership presence, accountability mindset, and team-oriented approach

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the power equipment industry
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., JDE)
  • Green belt or higher
  • Experience working in environments with strong data-driven daily management and KPI systems
  • Exposure to cross-functional coordination with warehouse/logistics and material flow in a manufacturing environment

Leadership:

Management+: Responsible for one or more than one area, each with supervisors/managers who have hire/fire authority.
