About the role

The Production Control & Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of production scheduling, material flow, and logistics for a low-volume commercial vehicle manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive manufacturing and lean manufacturing principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning and Scheduling:
  • Develop and maintain master production schedules to align with demand forecasts, supplier deliveries, and assembly capacity.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure timely availability of SKD/CKD kits and components.
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and adjust production plans as needed to maintain to efficiency.
Inventory and Material Flow Management:
  • Optimize inventory levels to ensure just-in-time (JIT) delivery while minimizing excess stock and carrying costs.
  • Implement lean material flow strategies and pull systems, to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring proper handling, storage, and tracking of incoming and outgoing materials.
Supplier Logistics Coordination:
  • Work closely with domestic and international suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of parts and materials.
  • Manage import/export processes for SKD/CKD kits, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
  • Coordinate transportation and freight logistics for inbound materials and outbound vehicles, optimizing cost and lead times.
  • Oversee U.S. Customs clearance procedures, including documentation, tariff classification, and compliance with US. CBP (Customs and Border Protection) policies.
  • Ensure familiarity with and application of U.S. CBP tariff programs, including HTS, Section 301 tariffs, Section 232 tariffs, and related duty mitigation strategies.
Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination:
  • Coordinate with logistics and procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of SKD kits and assembly parts.
  • Optimize inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve component quality or delivery issues.
ERP and Data Management ERP:
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems for production scheduling, inventory tracking, and supply chain visibility.
  • Generate and analyze production control reports, KPI's, and dashboards to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in production control, logistics, or supply chain management within automotive or commercial vehicle manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with low-volume manufacturing environments, particularly in SKD/CKD assembly operations.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and supply chain analytics.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Understanding of international shipping, customs compliance, and logistics regulations.
  • In-depth experience with U.S.-China automotive parts trade operations, customs clearance, and U.S. import/export regulations.
  • Familiarity with bonded warehouse operations, U.S. Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) regulations, and related customs duty deferral or mitigation programs.
  • Proficiency in English and Chinese (Mandarin) is highly preferred to facilitate communication with overseas suppliers and logistics providers.
