Overview

The Sr. Process Engineer is a key team member responsible for continuing to drive Porex towards being a world class manufacturing organization by leading the implementation of a lean manufacturing organization. The successful candidate will develop, implement and own capital investment projects, process standardization and improvement, as well as productivity and cost reduction projects.If you are an entrepreneurial minded engineer ready to drive highly visible growth, apply today!

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain robust, cost-efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices. Possesses a deep understanding of shop capacity planning related to equipment, processes, and labor needs.
  • Implement best practice methods and standard processes to reduce variation. Demonstrates ability to understand source(s) of variation and identify impact to the high-volume manufacturing process.
  • Lead continuous improvement and lean implementation using best practice lean methodologies to eliminate waste, reduce process variations and deliver products to customer's expectations.
  • Facilitate and serve as the primary leader for kaizen events including the Value Stream Mapping Events, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Partners with the facility team to compose and execute Capital Expense Requests (including payback and net present value analysis) for acquisition of equipment to support emerging and existing technologies as required.
  • Partners with Product Development and Quality Engineering teams to lead design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews for product changes and new product introductions. Holds ownership for needs assessment, statistical analysis, process design, and product launch.
  • Serve as a mentor and provide support to other process and manufacturing engineers at the site but providing guidance and leading efforts on various tasks to support machine uptime, equipment trouble shooting, equipment and tooling selection, and the creation and maintenance of operational documentation.
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors Degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering

Experience:

  • 10+ years of process engineering / continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience in a successful turnaround scenario of a manufacturing facility
  • Demonstrated success in delivering productivity and cost improvements
  • Experience leading and executing large Capital Projects and the CAPEX process
  • Experience driving lean process change utilizing the DBS or TPS models preferred
