Applied Signal Technology (AST) is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer with specialization in digital signal processing (DSP) techniques who strives for excellence and has a passion to be part of a team that strengthens our nation and improves the security of our world.

What You Will Do:

  • Apply your DSP expertise to solve & develop solutions to complex signal processing problems.  The key responsibilities for this position include:

    • Lead and/or participate in next-generation IR&D projects to drive invention, design, and optimization of advance DSP algorithms.

    • Analyze and optimize signal processing algorithms for improved performance.

    • Resolve system level integration issues, lab anomalies, or other real-world effects on system performance/operation.

    • Drive/implement technical solutions and mentor DSP development engineers

    • Communicate technical directions/roadmaps clearly with project managers and engineering leadership

  • Travel up to 25% to other AST locations and customers sites within the U.S.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant prior experience

  • Advanced signal processing analysis and development experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Advanced signals and protocols (modern digital communications, wideband, advanced modulations, low power, spread spectrum, frequency hopping)

    • Waveform algorithm modeling/development, sensitivity/performance assessments, timing/carrier recovery and tracking, modulation/demodulation processing

    • Digital beamforming, signal detection, direction of arrival measurements and emitter location techniques

    • Signal survey, snapshot, detection, identification, direction finding, and geolocation.

  • Demonstrated expertise utilizing modern C++, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent environments to architect, implement, and validate complex signal processing solutions.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance required prior to start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience applying Machine Learning models for signal classification, modulation recognition, or cognitive radio applications.

  • Experience applying DSP techniques to Spread Spectrum and/or Ultra-Wideband signals.

  • Experience working in the Defense industry, the Intelligence Community, or with other U.S. Government agencies

  • Possess active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance with Full-scope Poly

The salary range for this role is 145,600 USD - 276,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
