Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Principal Project Manager to join our dynamic, restricted Strike organization in Palmdale, CA.

In this role, you will serve as a vital member of the Program Integration Team, directly enabling Integrated Product Team (IPT) and Chief Engineering Team leadership to achieve operational excellence. This is a high-visibility, cross-functional position requiring a proactive team player who can seamlessly bridge the gap between technical project management, planning, execution teams, and program executive leadership.

As a Senior Principal Project Manager, you will oversee all operational aspects of ongoing projects, drive problem resolution, and manage critical stakeholder deliverables. Regular duties include:

  • Program Control & Reporting: Continually review project health, evaluate multi-million-dollar budgets, manage complex master schedules, and author high-level executive status reports.
  • Risk & Opportunity (RIO) Leadership: Serve as the program's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Risk, Issue, and Opportunity management. Facilitate RIO identification meetings and maintain tracking mechanisms to protect program baselines.
  • Cross-Functional Problem Solving: Autonomously assess complex programmatic challenges, decompose them into actionable execution plans, and coordinate intervention strategies across a diverse team of technical, business, and line managers.
  • Executive & Customer Interface: Facilitate internal and customer-facing reviews. Manage meeting logistics, establish presentation templates, curate content, track high-priority action items to closure, and lead post-meeting integration.
  • Business Growth Support: Assume a key supportive or leading role in new business proposal development, technical writing, and proposal team organization.
  • Program Infrastructure Management: Drive team continuity by maintaining active organizational charts and managing/curating the program's primary SharePoint repositories.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Project Management, Program Integration, or Program Execution (6 years of experience required with a Master's degree).
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives, developing strategic roadmaps, managing schedules, and aligning cross-functional teams to drive business objectives
  • Experience in authoring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process maps, playbooks, job aids, and implementation toolkits to secure business continuity
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and MS Project).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Control Account Manager (CAM) certification or direct experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Demonstrated capability to autonomously assess complex enterprise issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and decompose data into actionable implementation plans
  • Highly skilled in stakeholder management and creating executive-level communications to ensure alignment across large, diverse programs
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt


Primary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $176,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
