What you'll be doing

You will be joining the Strategic initiatives Chief Data & Artificial Intelligence office (CDAIO) within CIBC. As the Sr. PMO Intake & Governance Lead, you will join CIBC’s Technology department to develop and implement overall project portfolio governance and centralized intake management practices for consolidated reporting and tracking of technology-managed initiatives for our Chief Data and AI Office (CDAIO) internal and business partners. The role analyzes situations and data to review the content of each intake request for quality and technical details, addressing any discrepancies with stakeholders to identify barriers to completion.  The role applies innovation and substantial communication skills to bring structure, transparency, and governance to the demand management process for CDAIO technology intakes. Your strategic objectives is to standardize, optimize and provide continuous improvement ideas and enhancements for PMO tools, processes, reporting and metrics while showing transparency and consistency for reporting the project and intake status and key attributes at different levels.  You will be responsible for identifying and eliminating inconsistencies, overhead and duplications as well as early detection and remediation for any exposure to non-compliance to standards (deficiencies and gaps). From time to time you will need to manage time sensitive ad hoc requests either as an individual or as part of a group setting. Also, you may be required to host and chair meetings and present reports or materials that are relevant to CDAIO PMO Governance.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Governance & Control – Communicate the Project Governance and Control framework across CDAIO projects. Facilitate CDAIO technology intake governance and work with stakeholder groups to support approval processes, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies that enable successful delivery. Implement reporting and process improvement opportunities, as well as capacity planning and time management tools/processes.  

  • Technical knowledge - Familiarity with internal applications, IT service management software (e.g. JIRA), and ticketing workflows. Standard MS Office software knowledge are must and extended knowledge of Excel, including knowledge of macros, pivot tables, and PowerPoint for presentation decks. Any experience with Power BI would also be a bonus.

  • Tracking & Reporting - Manage consistent metrics for measuring and status reporting for projects and intakes including key relevant metrics.

  • Coordination - Provide support in advisory capacity to the Project Managers and CDAIO partners in terms of reporting, Planview, Project Management related standards and policies.  You will also work with SharePoint and various PMO tools administration. 

  • Time Management – Multi-tasking skills are required as there can be several deliverables and tasks that need to be completed by a set time. This includes weekly or monthly tasks and deliverables as well as impromptu actions that may be required in short time.

Who You Are

  • You demonstrate at least 4 years of experience in Technical project management or intake governance ideally within the financial services or technology industry. You have experience working within a Project Management Office (PMO), portfolio management, or operational risk and governance environment. You are comfortable with advanced communications with all levels including team members, management teams, business partners, and executives. 

  • You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
