  • Track progress of drawing assignments.
  • Participate in site and vendor visits when necessary.

Job Summary:

The Piping Designer/Drafter will be responsible for preparing layout and design of complex offshore/onshore piping design systems using 2D and 3D modeling software.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist engineers and designers in resolving piping design issues;
• Create drawings for assigned projects from information supplied and/or verbal instructions with little or no supervision required;
• Responsible for keeping their direct supervisors updated on any and all concerns relating to their respective assignments and discipline;
• Ensure that all drawings adhere to client, and/or company Drafting Standards;
• Ensure that all drawings adhere to client, company and/or industry Design Standards;
• Create and/or perform corrections to the following drawings: General Arrangements, P&ID's, 3D Model, Piping Plans, Piping Sections, Details, and Isometric Spools;
• Create Material List;
• Track progress on own drawings assignments;
• Be available for site and vendor visits as required;
• Other various project responsibilities as required.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
• Requires accredited drafting training and discipline training or have prior working experience;
• Requires a 10 or more years' experience of piping drafting and design experience relating to Upstream and Downstream Oil & Gas facilities;
• Onshore plant layout design experience required;
• Must have working knowledge of ASME, ANSI, API RP 14C, API RP 14E, API Spec 6A and OSHA standards;
• Must be familiar with AWS Welding Symbols and AISC Manual;
• Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
• Proficient with design software i.e. (AutoCAD, Autodesk PLANT3D, Navisworks, and PDMS);
• Must have working knowledge of P&ID's, General Arrangements, Piping Plans Sections and Details, Pipe Supports and Isometrics;
• Familiarity with project systems to include civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical components to allow considerations of those aspects into piping design as required;
• Ability and availability to work occasional overtime to include weekends as dictated by project requirements;
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff.

Working Conditions:
• Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations.
• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere;
• Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;
• Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
