Full Job Description
Your roleAs a Sr. Payroll Analyst, you'll own end-to-end US and international payroll processing, reconciliations, and GL accounting. You'll partner closely with third-party vendors, People Operations, Finance, and Treasury to streamline cross-functional payroll workflows and resolve complex issues. You'll also help create robust payroll journal entries and GL reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting and resolve variances. In addition, you'll help bring continuous process improvements, seamless system integrations, and multi-country tax and regulatory compliance to our expanding global operations.

This position reports to our Sr. Manager, Global Payroll, and has the opportunity to be based in our Austin, Tempe, or San Ramon office.

What you'll do
  • Process, prepare, and reconcile US and international payroll, including variable compensation, off-cycle payroll, terminations, and ad-hoc payments as needed.
  • Work with third-party vendors (e.g., Workday, Crowe) to create payroll cases and process off-cycle adjustments as necessary.
  • Process benefits contributions (e.g., HSA, DSA, FSA, commuter), monitor for changes, and reconcile data to ensure benefits statements align with payroll deductions.
  • Monitor Time & Attendance timesheets and processing for non-exempt employees, ensuring accuracy and policy compliance for US, Canada, UK, and Switzerland employees.
  • Assist with other international payrolls as needed.
  • Prepare and record payroll-related journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring accurate departmental coding and period-end accruals.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of payroll-related GL accounts, identifying and resolving any variances between the payroll system and the financial records.
  • Register new State/SUI/Local payroll tax and enter new tax jurisdictions into payroll systems.
  • Assist with external audits (e.g., year-end financial audit, 401(k), workers' compensation) by providing supporting records and documentation.
  • Assist with year-end W-2 reconciliation and reporting.
  • Keep informed of federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
  • Directly assist employees and managers with payroll-related education, questions, or issues.
  • Resolve payroll issues independently through research, analysis, knowledge of best practices, and proposal of reasonable solutions.
  • Support system integrations between the People and payroll systems to ensure accurate and complete data.
  • Partner with People Operations, Finance, Treasury, and other departments on ongoing process improvements.
  • Maintain organized and detailed payroll records, ensuring all payroll data and changes are accurately and completely reflected in the payroll system.

Skills you'll bring
  • 6+ years of direct payroll experience processing US multi-state and Canadian payroll.
  • HRIS experience required, with Workday preferred.
  • Experience with accounting, tax, and finance concepts relating to payroll.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs), MS Word, and Google Sheets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with internal and external parties while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle workload fluctuations and multiple requests.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team in a fast-paced, dynamic, multi-priority environment while maintaining firm deadlines.
  • Knowledge and mindset for automation and process improvements for scalability.
