ABOUT THE ROLEWe are seeking a
Sr. Operations Support Specialist to join our team supporting the
Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Responsibilities- Provide expert technical opinions on Radiation Protection issues.
- Support design, construction, startup, operations, and maintenance activities in high-hazard systems.
- Integrate Radiation Protection requirements into work planning and execution.
- Perform independent technical reviews and assessments of RP programs and field work.
- Provide guidance to project teams on complex technical and safety issues.
- Interface with management and customer representatives.
- Lead and coordinate project teams across functional organizations.
- Supervise senior personnel within the project organization.
- Develop and enforce work standards, schedules, and quality expectations.
- Communicate organizational goals, policies, and procedures to staff and teams.
Requirements- Education & Years of Experience - Bachelor's Degree in engineering or science and 8+ years of relevant experience and, 5 years of directly applicable experience in Radiation Protection and/or work planning in a DOE Cat 2 nuclear facility.; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
- Clearance - To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Experience in a DOE Category 2 nuclear facility or equivalent high-hazard nuclear environment.
- Strong background in Radiation Protection and work control systems.
Desired Skills- U.S. Nuclear Navy experience, DOE plutonium facility experience, and strong Conduct of Operations (ConOps) knowledge.
About the SiteThe NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
