Position: Sr. Network Architect and Security Engineer

What You'll Do:

The Sr. Network and Security Engineer is responsible for delivering technical solutions for network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN and Wireless, as well as implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and organizational data. The role will lead the implementation and enhancement of processes, procedures, and workflows as it relates to the organization's network and security. The Sr. Network and Security Engineer will analyze issues, identify root causes, develop and recommend solutions. This role may lead to complex evaluation and development, implementation, integration and administration of internal and external business solutions. This role defines domain specific architecture design and best practices align with enterprise architecture strategy and industry standards. Evaluates and anticipates the impact of technical solutions on related projects.

What We're Looking For:
  • Experience:
    • 8 years of experience in enterprise network and security engineering, with demonstrated responsibility for designing and architecting secure network infrastructures
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Required Licensures/Certifications:
    • None specified.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Proven expertise in firewall architecture, segmentation strategy, and security policy design, with deep hands-on experience using enterprise networks firewalls
    • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Juniper switching technologies, including network design, routing, and high availability configurations
    • Experience deploying and managing Extreme Networks wireless solutions, including controller-based and cloud-managed environments
    • Strong understanding of network security architecture principles, including zero trust, defense in depth, and secure remote access/VPN
    • Proficiency in implementing and managing identity-based access controls, such as RADIUS, SAML, and 802.1X/NAC
    • Experience integrating network infrastructure with SIEM tools, endpoint protection platforms, and other security systems
    • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, NIST, CIS Controls) and their impact on network/security architecture
    • Strong documentation and design skills, with the ability to develop high-level and low-level network diagrams and architecture plans
    • Relevant certifications preferred: CISSP, CCNP Security, or similar

Key Responsibilities:

Network Engineer
• Provides consultative advice and recommendations to technology and business management for the selection and implementation of technology systems.
• Responsible for network installations, provision capabilities, and physical infrastructure for network operations. Configure network hardware and software consistent with organizational standards. Proactively monitor infrastructure hardware and performance.
• Mentors and leads others. Communicates enterprise architecture strategy, industry standards, relevant technology and business standards/policies.
• Prepare technology documents and white papers that address and communicate domain specific architecture concepts and direction.
• Creates technology roadmaps and thought leadership for long-term strategic solutions.
• Evaluates and anticipates the impact of technical solutions on related projects and on business.
• Participates in architectural and technical committees. Represents domain specific topics, interests and needs. Serves as the technical Subject Matter Expert across multiple projects for development and engineering teams.
• Facilitates reviews at peer and principal levels for all technical designs and other technical documentation.
• Participate in solution design and implementation reviews for network technical solutions.
• Provide off-hour escalation support to on-call resources to rapidly restore service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Security & Endpoint Protection
• Implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
• Investigate and remediate complex incidents with standard protocols. Inclusive of escalations and communications.
• Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff.
• Collaborate with other IS teams on incidents, remediation, security systems & solutions, communications, etc.
• Conduct penetration testing, which is when analysts simulate attacks to look for vulnerabilities in their systems before they can be exploited.
• Develop security standards and best practices for their organization.
• Identify and define system security requirements.
• Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.
• Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Defines domain specific architecture design and best practices align with enterprise architecture strategy and industry standards. Evaluates and anticipates the impact of technical solutions on related projects.

Identity & Access Management
• Manage Active Directory, GPOs, and Azure AD integrations
• Support authentication and access control solutions including MFA, RADIUS, OKTA, and SAML
• Maintain user access policies and ensure compliance with IT security standards

Leadership & Collaboration
• Serve as a senior technical escalation point
• Collaborate with Networking and Cybersecurity teams to support end-to-end IT operations
• Mentor junior engineers and assist with infrastructure planning
