Sr Manager, Finance Transformation -Chicago, IL
This is a full-time, exempt level position

About the Role:
The Sr Manager, Finance Transformation, will be a global leader in shaping the future of the finance organization at a Fortune 50 company. This role serve as the right hand to the Transformation Leader (VP-level position) and help drive the day-to-day execution of a complex, enterprise-wide finance transformation.
  • This role will lead the operational backbone of the transformation, designing strategic priorities, ensuring that initiatives are precisely defined, and executed with rigor and consistency
  • The focus is on building a scalable and repeatable program management capability that can support a large and evolving portfolio of initiatives
  • Success in this role will be measured by the development of the transformation roadmap, quality of execution, transparency of progress, and realization of committed value
The Sr Manager, Finance Transformation, will partner closely with the Controlling, Global Technology, Global Business Services and other ADM teams. This role reports to the Vice President, Global Business Services, and has no direct reports.

Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Transformation Leadership
  • Drive architecting of global finance transformation roadmap
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the Transformation Leader and Chief Accounting Officer
    • Provide clear visibility into overall program health
    • Highlight key risks, trade-offs, and areas requiring intervention
  • Executive communication and alignment
    • Point person for executive communication about finance transformation program
    • Help prepare materials and talking points for leadership engagement
    • Ensure consistent messaging across the organization
  • Provide surge support where needed
    • Step into priority initiatives or problem areas
    • Help stabilize execution in critical moments
Program Management & Execution Discipline
  • Own and continuously refine the end-to-end program management framework for the transformation
    • Define how initiatives are structured, launched, tracked, and closed
    • Ensure consistency in how teams approach planning and execution, as well as value delivery
  • Translate transformation priorities into clear, actionable plans
    • Break down high-level initiatives into milestones, deliverables, and timelines
    • Ensure alignment between strategic objectives and day-to-day execution
  • Drive execution rigor across all workstreams
    • Ensure every initiative has clearly defined scope, interim monitoring and success metrics, and ownership
    • Reinforce expectations around timelines, deliverables, and quality of output
  • Provide structure in ambiguous environments
    • Help teams move from concept to execution by defining what good looks like
    • Reduce variability in how initiatives are managed across functions
Process Excellence, Standardization & Lean Enablement
  • Define and implement standard ways of working across the transformation
    • Create templates for initiative charters, business cases, and reporting
    • Establish consistent stage-gate criteria and processes
    • Ensure consistent documentation and repeatability across initiatives
  • Embed Lean process discipline into transformation execution
    • Apply Lean principles such as waste reduction, process simplification, and standard work
    • Drive structured problem-solving approaches (e.g., root cause analysis, continuous improvement cycles)
    • Ensure teams focus on value-added activities and eliminate inefficiencies
  • Partner with initiative teams to improve process design and execution
    • Identify process bottlenecks, redundancies, and handoff inefficiencies
    • Support redesign efforts to improve cycle time, quality, and scalability
  • Implement and manage program tracking tools and dashboards
    • Ensure tools are user-friendly, scalable, and aligned with reporting needs
    • Drive adoption across initiative teams
  • Continuously improve processes and ways of working
    • Identify opportunities to simplify and streamline execution
    • Increase speed, clarity, and effectiveness over time
Initiative Tracking & Value Realization
  • Establish and manage a single source of truth for the transformation portfolio
    • Centralize tracking of milestones, risks, dependencies, and financial impact
    • Ensure data is accurate, up-to-date, and consistently reported
  • Track and monitor value delivery
    • Compare planned vs. actual outcomes (cost savings, productivity, cash, etc.)
    • Highlight gaps early and support corrective actions
  • Identify and mitigate value leakage risks
    • Monitor for delays, scope changes, or underperformance
    • Ensure issues are surfaced early and addressed proactively
  • Support initiative teams in strengthening business cases
    • Improve clarity around assumptions, timelines, and expected benefits
    • Ensure alignment between financial targets and operational plans
Governance & Cadence Management
  • Design and run a structured governance model to support decision-making and oversight, from teams on the ground to C-suite
    • Define meeting cadence across weekly, monthly, and executive forums
    • Ensure the right topics, decisions, and participants are included
  • Lead preparation of executive-ready materials
    • Develop clear, concise updates on progress, risks, and key decisions
    • Provide leadership with actionable insights, not just status updates
  • Drive clarity in decision-making and accountability
    • Define and reinforce decision rights across stakeholders
    • Ensure follow-ups and actions are tracked through to completion
  • Maintain discipline in cadence
    • Ensure meetings are productive, focused, and outcome-oriented
    • Avoid reporting for reporting's sake by focusing on value and decisions
Risk Identification & Issue Resolution
  • Proactively identify risks and bottlenecks across initiatives
    • Look across the portfolio to spot patterns, dependencies, and emerging issues
    • Anticipate challenges before they impact delivery
  • Implement structured risk and issue management processes
    • Standardize how risks are identified, assessed, and tracked
    • Ensure clear ownership and accountability for resolution
  • Drive timely escalation and resolution
    • Elevate issues when needed while maintaining momentum at the team level
    • Support initiative leads in removing roadblocks quickly
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in program management, transformation, or consulting
  • Executive presence
  • Proven ability to manage global, complex, cross-functional programs with multiple workstreams
  • Strong understanding of governance, tracking, and value realization frameworks
  • Experience working in or with Finance organizations preferred
  • Experience applying Lean or continuous improvement methodologies in complex environments strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and data management capabilities
  • Bachelor's degree required
