Sr Merchant, Sleep and Outerwear

Department: Merchandising

Location: Los Angeles HQ

Reporting To: Joyce Ha

Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000 / year

Description

We are seeking a highly strategic and product-driven Senior Merchant to lead our Women's Sleep & Outerwear categories. This individual will own the end-to-end merchandising strategy-from assortment planning and product lifecycle management to driving category growth and profitability.

This role requires a strong balance of analytical rigor and creative instinct, with the ability to identify white space opportunities, translate customer insights into compelling product strategies, and partner cross-functionally to bring innovative collections to market.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Assortment Planning
  • Develop seasonal line plans and product strategies aligned to revenue, margin, and long-range business goals
  • Influence product decisions throughout lifecycle-from concept through launch and post-launch optimization
  • Build category assortments tailored to target consumer segments and channel needs

Business Performance & Analytics
  • Analyze weekly and monthly sales performance, identifying risks and growth opportunities
  • Conduct hindsight analysis to inform future assortment and investment decisions
  • Monitor inventory, rate of sale, and stock on order to determine buy depth and reorders

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Partner with Design, Planning, Production, Marketing, and Ecommerce to ensure successful launches
  • Present category insights and performance in monthly and quarterly business reviews
  • Collaborate with Ecommerce to optimize online merchandising and in-stock performance

Market & Consumer Insights
  • Track competitive landscape, pricing strategies, and consumer trends within apparel categories
  • Recommend product positioning that strengthens brand authority and category growth

Operational Excellence
  • Maintain product data accuracy across systems
  • Support and mentor assistant level team members
  • Drive process improvements and scalable merchandising practices


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • 7+ years of merchandising experience, preferably within apparel, sleepwear, loungewear, or outerwear
  • Strong business acumen with deep understanding of retail math, assortment planning, and inventory management
  • Strong product sensibility with an understanding of fit, fabrication, and consumer trends & needs
  • Strong presentation and cross-functional communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
