Full Job Description

AOS is seeking a Sr. Commissioning Physicist professional that works independently with the commissioning team under the supervision of the Senior Manager on assigned duties while ensuring high quality service through customer experience, on-site operations, follows procedure, performance of practice standards. Implements and abides by customer service standards.  Supports and demonstrates family-centered care principles when interacting with customers and with co-workers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Commissioning Physicist will independently be responsible for data collection, beam model configuration, beam model validation and report writing for linear accelerator and treatment planning system commissioning. This responsibility requires fluency in the operation of the linear accelerator, scanning and other measuring devices, treatment planning system and record and verify system. The Senior Commissioning Physics will be the leader on each commissioning job and will be responsible for the completion of the scope of work to the satisfaction of all parties.

The Senior Commissioning Physicist will be responsible for project planning, preparation and follow-up for the commissioning jobs to which they are assigned. This includes communication with customers as well as installation and field service teams. The Senior Commissioning Physicist will customize the report and analysis templates and remotely access the customer’s treatment planning system to perform preliminary configuration if the functionality is available. Upon completion of the onsite work, the Senior Commissioning Physicist will compile the commissioning report and submit to the customer, and help the customer navigate the content.

In addition, the Senior Commissioning Physicist will use their clinical expertise to participate in various aspects of process and software tool improvement to continuously enhance the quality of the commissioning service, as well as research and development projects as directed by the Senior Director and Senior Managers of Commissioning. The Senior Commissioning Physicist will participate in the creation and critical review of, as well as adherence to, procedure manuals.

Maintain literacy and expertise by staying current with the latest developments in research and practice guidelines in the field of commissioning.

May be assigned by the Senior Director or Senior Managers of Commissioning to assist other teams for specific tasks (annual QA, technology adoption consulting) as the commissioning schedule permits.

Lead the team going on customer site for commissioning

Assist or perform water phantom setup and alignment for data collection

Perform commissioning tasks including data collection and analysis using IBA water phantom system

Perform TPS modeling and validation

Utilize multiple vendor dosimetry QA equipment and software to collect and analyze measurement data

Operate Varian Treatment, TPS and EMR systems

Write commissioning report and communicate report to customer physicist

Provide clinical expertise in understanding and meeting specific customer needs

Participates in process improvement tasks and software development

May provide on-site or remote physics support at other sites (not limited to commissioning clients)

May provide annual and or monthly QA in support of clinical sites

Supervise the training of Medical Physics Residents when they are assigned to shadow a commissioning job.

Approximately 65% of the job duties will be at various customer sites to which the Senior Commissioning Physicist will be required to travel, as the commissioning schedule requires.

QUALIFICATIONS:

$1500 Travel Bonus

MS or PhD in Medical Physics, or closely related field.

10 Years of Clinical Medical Physics experience.       

ABR or ABMP Board certification in Therapeutical Medical Physics

The base pay range for this position is:

$168,470 - $231,649

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
