Overview:The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting Product & Process Quality Assurance (PPQA) through the planning, execution, and qualification of engineering changes, leadership of System Reliability Testing (SRT) activities, and integration of quality assurance practices within the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS). This role ensures product quality, continuity of supply, and cost-effective manufacturing by driving disciplined testing, cross-functional collaboration, risk-based decision-making, and timely issue resolution.
The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between quality, engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams while leading reliability initiatives and continuous improvement efforts that support organizational quality objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Change Qualification & Supply Continuity- Lead qualification planning and execution for hardware and/or supplies engineering changes, including supplier, manufacturing process, and production location changes.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate product quality improvements and support continuity-of-supply initiatives.
- Perform test setup, performance evaluation, data collection, analysis, and documentation activities.
- Review test results and provide clear recommendations regarding qualification approval and implementation readiness.
- Collaborate with global PPQA, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and supplier teams to align qualification requirements, schedules, and decision-making processes.
- Ensure testing activities are completed in accordance with established quality standards and procedures.
System Reliability Testing (SRT) Leadership- Serve as the Lexington site lead and process owner for System Reliability Testing (SRT).
- Develop, maintain, and execute reliability test plans utilizing customer usage profiles and application data across multiple product families.
- Monitor test execution, identify issues, and ensure proper documentation and traceability throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Coordinate root cause investigations and corrective actions with engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Drive continuous improvement of SRT methodologies, tools, metrics, and reporting processes.
- Communicate program status, risks, findings, and recommendations through regular reviews and formal documentation.
ISO 9001 Quality Management System Leadership- Act as the PPQA site lead for ISO 9001 Quality Management System activities.
- Integrate qualification and reliability testing decisions with QMS requirements and risk-based quality processes.
- Support internal and external audit activities, including planning, scheduling, auditor coordination, and follow-up actions.
- Maintain audit trackers, action item databases, and compliance documentation.
- Facilitate process leadership meetings by preparing agendas, documenting actions, and tracking completion of commitments.
- Partner with global quality teams to ensure consistency and compliance across sites and functions.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Quality, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in quality assurance, product validation, reliability testing, manufacturing quality, or a related technical environment.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze technical data, identify trends, and make sound recommendations.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions and locations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience leading Engineering Change (EC) qualification testing programs.
- Experience with System Reliability Testing (SRT), product reliability methodologies, or customer-use simulation testing.
- Knowledge of electrophotographic printing systems, imaging technologies, consumables, or materials qualification processes.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, audit processes, and risk-based quality management principles.
- Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing organizations in a product development or production environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience using Power BI, SharePoint, or similar tools for reporting, data visualization, and document management.
