Overview

Gray AES is looking to add a Sr. Mechanical Engineer-MEP to our Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX and Lexington, KY Office.

Who we want...
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineering License is required.
  • 8-10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering, with a strong background in industrial or commercial facility projects.• Proven expertise in mechanical systems design, including HVAC, piping, utility systems, and equipment layout in Gray's core markets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Bluebeam and 3D modeling software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and familiarity with BIM workflows.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and engineering standards, including IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and applicable mechanical design regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, mentoring junior staff, and managing design deliverables across project phases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills for system analysis, cost modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with automation and control systems (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, VFDs) and their integration into mechanical infrastructure is a plus.
  • Ability to assess existing mechanical systems and drive optimization strategies that improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and deliver measurable ROI.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • Provide strategic input during project planning, feasibility studies, and client engagements, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Actively contribute to business development, including proposal writing, client presentations, and relationship management. Capable of owning and expanding key accounts.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Lead mechanical design efforts across all project phases: FEL/FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated engineering solutions that meet performance, budget, and schedule targets.
  • Ensure seamless coordination with architectural, structural, electrical, and automation disciplines.
  • Represent the mechanical discipline in client-facing engagements, including design reviews, site visits, and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain high standards of communication and documentation, supporting proactive coordination and issue resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
