THE WORK
The Sr. Process Engineer will lead composite process development in Owego, defining new manufacturing methods that boost yield and reduce cost while serving as a key contributor to the adhesives and sealants effort for our circuit-board production line.
In this role you will:
• Lead the creation and optimization of composite manufacturing processes, applying innovative techniques to increase yield and achieve cost savings.
• Design, test, and qualify adhesive and sealant applications for circuit-board assemblies, ensuring reliability for mission-critical systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including materials, quality, and manufacturing engineering-to integrate process improvements into high-volume production.
• Analyze process data, identify root-cause defects, and implement corrective actions that drive continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
• Support the transfer of new processes from pilot to full-scale manufacturing, coordinating with supply-chain and production leadership.

Basic Qualifications
• 4 + years of hands on experience working with non- metallic materials such as sealants, adhesives, polymers, and composite systems.
• Measurable history of results improving process, selecting materials, developing and qualifying manufacturing processes to include close collaboration with ancillary teams (e.g., machine shop, finishing, quality assurance).
• Demonstrated expertise in material property testing, ASTM standards (e.g., ASTM D638, D256) and systematic failure analysis techniques.
Desired skills
• Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Materials Science & Engineering (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Experience in Autoclave/ Heat Treatment cure cycle development; winding, extrusion and layup experience
• Ability to setup/transition new equipment and new manufacturing technologies.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and detailed specifications.
• Create, design and implement material and process. specifications, build reports, and create detailed test plans.
• Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations.
• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and integration processes.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $98,300 - $170,315. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
