Position Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes to improve product quality, production efficiency, and operational performance. This role provides technical leadership to engineering and operations teams by evaluating manufacturing methods, implementing process improvements, designing tooling and fixtures, and deploying automated and semi-automated manufacturing technologies. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer leads cross-functional projects, mentors interns and technicians, and collaborates with internal teams and suppliers to support continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Principal Activities
  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, reduced waste, and lower production costs.
  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes to support production objectives.
  • Design and implement specialized tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids.
  • Develop and maintain programs for manufacturing equipment.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flows, and related process documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to establish quality standards, conduct process audits, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with Design Engineering to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and efficient production.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the implementation of new equipment, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of automated and semi-automated manufacturing technologies.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and suppliers to identify materials and manufacturing processes that meet cost, quality, availability, and performance requirements.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to manufacturing engineers, engineering technicians, and interns as needed.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, quality standards, and applicable certification requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related engineering discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading successful cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Experience in one or more of the following manufacturing disciplines: Assembly, CNC machining, Metal forming and fabrication or Foundry operations
  • Experience designing and interpreting technical drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Experience developing tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and certification standards such as ISO, TS, or similar standards is preferred.
