Senior Manager, Global Warehouse Operations
Department: Supply Chain – Global Inventory Planning & Warehousing Operations
Reports to: Senior Manager, Supply Chain
Location: United States – Nashville or Memphis area
Travel: Periodic domestic and international travel to internal warehouses, third-party logistics sites, freight-forwarder locations, and regional hubs
Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Global Warehouse Operations is a senior individual contributor and recognized subject-matter expert responsible for developing and advancing Nextpower’s global warehouse strategy and operating model. This position provides functional leadership across internal facilities and outsourced logistics partners to establish consistent, efficient, and scalable warehouse operations worldwide.
The role has broad responsibility for warehouse network development, third-party logistics provider selection and governance, operational standards, inventory accuracy, cost optimization, systems enablement, and continuous improvement. This individual independently evaluates complex operational challenges, develops solutions for significant and unique issues, and establishes frameworks that may influence the broader Supply Chain function.
Working across regions and functions, the Senior Manager will build formal networks and align diverse stakeholders around global warehouse objectives. The position will provide thought leadership, lead high-impact initiatives, and influence operational decisions without relying on direct reporting authority.
This is a hands-on functional leadership role requiring advanced warehouse expertise, strong business judgment, and the ability to translate strategy into sustainable operational execution. Regular international travel may be required to support warehouse implementations, conduct operational assessments, strengthen provider relationships, and drive continuous improvement across the global warehouse network.
Key Responsibilities
Global Warehouse Strategy and Functional Leadership
- Develop and advance Nextpower’s global warehouse strategy, governance framework, and operating model.
- Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for warehouse operations, providing guidance on complex operational, commercial, and network decisions.
- Establish global objectives, principles, and standards that support current business requirements and long-term organizational growth.
- Lead significant cross-regional initiatives that improve warehouse scalability, consistency, resilience, and operational performance.
- Evaluate complex or ambiguous business requirements and determine appropriate warehouse strategies, methods, and solutions.
Warehouse Network and Provider Management
- Lead warehouse network assessments, sourcing activities, provider evaluations, selection processes, onboarding, and operational transitions.
- Develop strategic relationships with third-party warehouse and logistics providers across multiple regions.
- Establish performance expectations, service-level agreements, governance structures, key performance indicators, and business-review processes.
- Analyze provider capabilities, risks, service performance, and cost structures to recommend changes or improvements.
- Influence internal stakeholders and external providers to resolve complex operational challenges and achieve business objectives.
Operational Excellence
- Develop and implement global warehouse standards, controls, processes, and best practices.
- Drive measurable improvements in inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, warehouse productivity, service levels, cost, and operational quality.
- Lead complex root-cause analyses and develop corrective and preventive actions for recurring or high-impact operational issues.
- Support warehouse start-ups, network expansion, operational integrations, and readiness for new products or business requirements.
- Identify operational risks and recommend scalable solutions that balance service, cost, control, and business continuity.
Systems, Data, and Process Improvement
- Partner with Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory Planning, IT, Finance, Procurement, Operations, and other functions to improve warehouse systems, processes, reporting, and visibility.
- Define business requirements and influence the development or enhancement of warehouse management systems and related technology.
- Use operational and financial data to evaluate performance, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making.
- Lead standardization, automation, and process-improvement initiatives across the global warehouse network.
- Establish performance metrics and reporting frameworks that provide actionable insight to senior stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Influence and Thought Leadership
- Create formal networks across regions and functions to support consistent execution of global warehouse priorities.
- Lead through influence and coordinate the activities of cross-functional teams, external providers, and project resources.
- Communicate advanced operational concepts, risks, and recommendations to diverse technical and business audiences.
- Provide recommendations to senior leadership on warehouse strategy, investments, provider performance, and operational priorities.
- Coach and share expertise with colleagues, project teams, and regional stakeholders to strengthen organizational warehouse capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline with 12–15 years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree with 8–12 years of relevant experience
- Broad and advanced expertise in warehouse operations, logistics, inventory management, or related supply chain disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience leading global or multi-regional warehouse operations across internal facilities and outsourced third-party logistics providers.
- Experience leading warehouse network development, sourcing, provider selection, contracting support, onboarding, and operational governance.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems, inventory controls, warehouse processes, performance metrics, and reporting tools.
- Proven ability to evaluate significant and complex operational issues requiring conceptual thinking, independent judgment, and consideration of business-wide implications.
- Demonstrated success leading high-impact, cross-functional initiatives in a global and matrixed organization.
- Strong experience influencing senior stakeholders and external partners without direct reporting authority.
- Experience developing global standards, operating models, governance frameworks, or continuous-improvement programs.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally on a regular basis.
