ABOUT THIS POSITIONWe are seeking a Senior Manager of Systems Engineering to lead the design, automation, and delivery of our on-premises datacenter infrastructure. This role oversees teams responsible for compute, storage, virtualization, and core systems, with a strong focus on automation, standardization, and project execution. Cloud experience is a plus, but the primary focus is on on-prem infrastructure excellence.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Lead teams operating and modernizing on-prem datacenter platforms, including VMware and/or Nutanix environments.
- Own reliability, scalability, and lifecycle management of compute, storage, and core infrastructure systems.
- Drive automation across provisioning, configuration, patching, and platform operations.
- Lead infrastructure initiatives such as datacenter upgrades, hardware refreshes, platform migrations, and modernization efforts.
- Partner with architecture, security, networking, and application teams to deliver projects with minimal operational impact.
- Develop and mentor engineering leaders, fostering accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Provide clear communication on risks, priorities, and delivery progress to senior leadership.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED- 8+ years of systems or infrastructure engineering experience in on-prem datacenter environments.
- 3+ years of people management experience leading managers and/or senior engineers.
- Strong experience with VMware and/or Nutanix platforms and enterprise storage systems.
- Proven success driving automation and infrastructure modernization.
- Experience leading complex infrastructure projects end to end.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred- Experience supporting hybrid environments or integrating with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Familiarity with automation and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python).
- Experience in regulated or high-availability environments.
