Your Opportunity

The Advisor Services Data Delivery Team is looking for a highly-motivated Software Engineer to be the team lead of a scrum team building and supporting applications that provide critical, high-volume data integration for Schwab’s Advisor clients and third parties. This position requires an individual with strong problem-solving skills who can contribute to a highly collaborative culture and agile team environment. This person will get the opportunity to work with new and emerging cloud technologies as we begin to migrate our capabilities to the cloud.

What you have
  • Partner with Solution Architects and Platform Architects to ensure implementations meet the solution architecture and design.
  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of critical, high-volume data management applications using Cloud technologies.
  • Analyze a target system design and decompose the functionality into incremental deliverable milestones.
  • Provide leadership within your Scrum team including supporting junior engineers and offsore partners.
  • Coordinate across multiple functional areas to deliver a solution that meets all applicable standards.
  • Lead and develop junior members of the engineering team, including performing code reviews, reviewing test strategies and providing feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, product owners, and end users to solve challenging problems.
  • Support your solutions throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Active participation in real-time and after-the-fact diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution to production incidents on High availability applications
  • Help organize and enable teams to deliver on multiple efforts simultaneously and ensure accountability by holding the team responsible for deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10-12 years professional experience in software engineering.
  • Experience providing technical oversight for a scrum team, ideally with 3-5 years experneice as a tech lead.
  • Strong programming knowledge and experience developing in Java. C# experience is a plus.
  • Recent experience with cloud-based technologies, preferably on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with a relational database, SQL, and stored procedures (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres).
  • Web Service and REST API design, development and testing.
  • Delivers scalable, business-aligned system design solutions through predictive or adaptive approaches.
  • Develops software solutions that align with design principles and business objectives
  • Optimizes software development testing and verification to enhance component reliability and address operational problems.
  • Experience writing Unit Tests with high code coverage.
  • Understanding of Agile development practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be a self-starter who is detail-oriented and focused on driving solutions to completion and achieving deadlines.
  • Applies analytical thinking to abstract factors, guides outcomes, and sets priorities.
  • Produces high-quality written materials tailored to different stakeholders.
  • Influences improvements in efficiency and effectiveness within a function.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with using C#, .Net Framework, .Net Core, WinForms, JavaScript, JSP, CSS, HTML
  • Experience with Spring frameworks, including Spring Boot, Spring Cloud Data Flow, python etc.
  • Experience with Google Cloud SDK, Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery , Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, DataFlow, etc.
  • Experience using Jira or other agile work tracking system.
  • Consistently maintains clear, open communication to enhance collaboration with others.
  • Leverages industry expertise to guide strategy and guide team members in industry and marketplace dynamics.
  • Encourages independent problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Seeks new methods or technologies to enhance work outcomes.
  • Able to mentor and help develop junior-level engineers.
