Role Summary

At Rivian, the Enterprise Technology team powers the digital backbone behind our Finance & Accounting operations. We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the teams that design and build the scalable, intelligent enterprise platforms that enable operational excellence across our Financial Planning, Accounting, Internal Controls and financial close ecosystems. This role is ideal for a leader who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with a passion for innovation and building high-performing teams. This role will be located in Atlanta, GA and will report to our Sr. Director of Global Financial Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of software engineers responsible for the design, development, and delivery of enterprise applications for Finance & Accounting operations.
  • Establish a world-class software team by hiring, coaching, and developing top engineering talent.
  • Champion and enforce strong software engineering principles and best practices, including architecture, testing, security, and performance.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and execution of multiple projects, ensuring scope and schedule are established and met.
  • Collaborate with product managers, operations teams, data scientists, and other cross-functional engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps and deliver on business objectives.
  • Drive a next-generation, AI-first mindset when designing workflows, automation, and decision-support systems.
  • Own complex technical initiatives from concept through to production, ensuring systems are scalable, cloud-native, and highly reliable.
  • Manage resource allocation for the department, including prioritization and staff deployment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping high-quality, scalable software.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, with a passion for mentoring and growing teams.
  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles and practices, with proficiency in one or more modern languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C#).
  • Experience building enterprise-scale or mission-critical Finance Applications.
  • Experience with cloud and container technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, streaming platforms, and data pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Pay Disclosure

The salary range for this role is $199,300 - $249,100 for Atlanta based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.

The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
