This position will support either the Northeast or Southeast region, with coverage area determined by the successful candidate's location.

Position Summary:

The Sr. Manager - Safety leads and manages the overall safety program for the designated Operations division and/or region and works in close alliance with both the Director and Vice President of Safety and Operations leadership. Key responsibility is to provide strong and visible safety leadership through training, field communications, site visits, etc. all working towards achieving world-class safety results. Collaborate with all levels of management in the design, implementation and performance monitoring of safety management systems and programs to reduce and prevent occupational injuries, vehicle incidents and liability claims. Provide strategic safety oversight and leadership to a team of Field Safety Managers throughout the division.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in the development of safety/operational standards, procedures and policies and leads the implementation of these systems and programs to improve the group's ability to exceed industry safety / compliance standards.
  • Assess compliance through auditing and other means of evaluation. Assist team of FSMs in development and implementation of corrective actions and remediation plans as required.
  • Monitor and report on the status of compliance on major safety programs within the group. Continually evaluate the accuracy and reliability of reported information.
  • Lead a team of Field Safety Managers driving toward consistent goals and developmental programs. Develop and lead the field in training efforts for all areas of company safety policies and industry regulatory compliance.
  • Provide support to field personnel to resolve equipment and technical/safety problems. As necessary, coordinate with your peers and others to resolve these issues.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent leadership skills to gain support for initiatives and willingness to speak up appropriately.
  • Ability to lead a team of safety professionalisms and build department related goals.
  • Problem solving capabilities during emergency and urgent situations.
  • Demonstrated writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively to large in person groups and to those working remotely.
  • Competency in all relevant chemical industry safety codes and federal regulations (OSHA, DOT, EPA, NFPA, etc.)


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in OSEH Preferred (Substitute for Years of Experience in Safety)

Minimum 8 Years of management, with multiple years leading direct reports

Certified Safety Professional (preferred, not required)

PERC, other industry related licenses
