Full Job Description
The Senior Manager, Purchasing is responsible for leading and executing purchasing strategy across defined categories of direct, indirect, and/or finished goods. This role ensures continuity of supply, drives cost optimization, and improves supplier performance while supporting operational execution needs within a regulated medical device environment.What you'll be doing

  • Develop and execute purchasing and sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, cost targets, and service level expectations
  • Drive reduction of backorders and ensure timely fulfillment through proactive supplier management, demand alignment, and issue resolution
  • Oversee purchasing execution activities, ensuring purchase orders, supplier commitments, and delivery timelines are effectively managed to meet business needs
  • Partner with Planning and Operations to align purchasing activities with demand forecasts, inventory strategies, and production requirements
  • Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Establish Class A (world-class) performance metrics and drive improvements to achieve best in class supply chain performance (fill rates, inventory turns, backorder levels.)
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of purchasing professionals, establishing clear expectations and accountability. Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, continuous improvement, and results in accordance with Bioventus policies and procedures as well as global standards for medical devices.
  • Ensure focus and alignment with functional and company goals. Provide employees with continuous feedback and coaching using talent-and-performance management tools.
  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements, including FDA and ISO standards
  • Collaborates with Audit & Risk Management function to identify business risks, and develop and implement preventive strategies for functional area.
  • Holds oneself and others accountable to conduct business in a manner compliant with Bioventus' Code of Compliance and Ethics, policies and procedures and internal controls applicable to their role.


What you'll bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience required
  • Experience in medical device, healthcare, or other regulated industry strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in supplier management, cost savings initiatives, and operational execution
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive results
  • Experience in using SAP enterprise resource management systems to plan, procure, produce, and distribute medical devices.
