Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced
Senior Manager of Technical Accounting to lead technical accounting research, policy development, SEC reporting support, and the implementation of new accounting standards. This role will partner closely with Accounting, Finance, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Internal Audit, and external auditors to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP while supporting strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, financing transactions, lease accounting, and future IPO readiness.
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex accounting matters to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities - Serve as the company's technical accounting subject matter expert for complex U.S. GAAP matters.
- Research, analyze, and document accounting conclusions related to:
- ASC 842 - Lease Accounting
- Debt and equity financing transactions
- Goodwill and intangible asset accounting
- Prepare technical accounting memos supporting significant transactions and accounting conclusions.
- Lead implementation of new accounting pronouncements and ensure compliance with evolving GAAP requirements.
- Review significant contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
- Support quarterly and annual financial reporting, including SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, S-1) and financial statement disclosures.
- Partner with external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
- Assist with IPO readiness initiatives, including development of accounting policies, internal controls, and SEC reporting processes.
- Lead accounting efforts related to mergers, acquisitions, purchase accounting, and integration activities.
- Oversee lease accounting processes, including lease classification, modifications, remeasurements, and ongoing compliance with ASC 842.
- Evaluate complex transactions and provide accounting guidance to business leaders.
- Develop and maintain company-wide accounting policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with Legal, Treasury, HR, FP&A, and Operations on strategic business initiatives.
- Assist with SOX compliance, internal controls, and process improvements.
- Mentor accounting staff and provide technical training across the finance organization.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Active CPA license highly preferred
- 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting preferred
- Combination of public accounting and publicly traded industry experience strongly preferred
- Extensive experience researching and applying U.S. GAAP
- Strong SEC reporting experience (10-Q, 10-K, S-1 preferred)
- Experience preparing technical accounting position papers and accounting memorandums
- Experience supporting audits and working directly with external auditors
- Hands-on experience with complex accounting transactions including acquisitions, debt, equity, and stock compensation
- Experience implementing ASC 842 and other major accounting standards preferred
- IPO readiness or public company experience is highly desirable
