Expected salary range of $202,500 to $225,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Primary Purpose of PositionThe Senior Manager of Regulatory Compliance is responsible for overseeing compliance functions and programs related to the operation of generation facilities and participation in wholesale energy markets. This role crafts compliance programs and strategies to ensure the company's generation assets and wholesale trading and other commercial business activities operate in full compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, permits, and internal standards. This role also leads internal reviews and prepares responses to requests for information and inquiries from federal and state regulators, Independent System Operators/Regional Transmission Organizations (ISOs/RTOs), internal and external market monitors, and other regulatory and quasi-regulatory entities. This role exercises judgment on regulatory and compliance matters and recommends strategies and business practices designed to achieve compliance and mitigate legal, regulatory, and reputational risk to the company. Embedded within the Legal Department, this role works cross-functionally with Generation Operations, Commercial/Trading, Policy, Risk, Finance, and others across the enterprise. The Senior Manager of Compliance leads and manages a team of regulatory compliance professionals responsible for compliance activities of substantial importance to the organization.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities- Lead compliance oversight for energy trading and ISO/RTO operational compliance activities.
- Oversee internal investigations, reviews, and responses to compliance matters involving energy trading and ISO/RTO market participation, including regulatory inquiries and investigations from Independent Market Monitors, FERC, and other federal and state regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and maintain compliance metrics, reports, and related compliance reporting.
- Brief senior management and executive leadership on compliance activities, risks, and emerging compliance matters.
- Oversee compliance activities, regulatory filings, and work product of compliance professionals.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to compliance professionals.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, law, or a related field
- Minimum 7-years of progressive experience in compliance, legal, regulatory, commercial, or operational roles within the energy, electric generation, or related industry
- Experience supporting compliance activities for electric generation facilities
- Experience supporting compliance with wholesale electric market tariffs, rules, and ISO/RTO requirements
- Knowledge of regulatory enforcement, audits, and compliance program design
- Experience managing sensitive compliance matters requiring discretion and sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications- Advanced degree in business, engineering, law, or a related field
