The
Sr. Manager, Materials and Scheduling is responsible for ensuring the seamless flow of materials and efficient scheduling of manufacturing operations to support clinical and commercial supply in a GMP-regulated environment. The role leads materials management and production scheduling functions, including raw material planning, inventory control, and master production scheduling, to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing operations. Focuses on driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance with cGMP and global regulatory standards, and collaborating cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to meet production timelines and optimize resources
The role:- Lead materials management and production scheduling functions to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations
- Oversee raw material planning, inventory control, and material availability for clinical and commercial supply
- Own and drive the Master Production Schedule (MPS) aligned to demand, capacity, and resource availability
- Ensure compliance with cGMP and global regulatory standards within all planning and materials activities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to optimize operations and timelines
- Manage and develop the materials planning and scheduling team to drive performance and accountability
- Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in planning and inventory management
- Support new product introductions and tech transfer activities to ensure readiness from a materials and scheduling perspective
The candidate:- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of materials management and production scheduling experience in pharma/biotech manufacturing
- Minimum 4 years of direct people leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of cGMP and global regulatory requirements (FDA/EMA)
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and advanced planning tools
- Proven ability to manage MPS, material planning strategies, and inventory control (safety stock, cycle counts)
- APICS certification (CPIM/CSCP), Lean/Six Sigma, gene therapy/biologics experience, and NPI/tech transfer exposure preferred
The anticipated salary range for this position in Maryland is $160,000 to $180,000 plus an annual bonus target. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
