Current Need
McKesson’s Corporate Development team is seeking a Sr. M&A Analyst to support the evaluation and execution of inorganic growth opportunities across the enterprise. This role will work closely with senior leaders and cross-functional partners to analyze acquisitions, investments, partnerships, and other strategic transactions.
The position requires strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights that support executive decision-making.
The Role
The Sr. M&A Analyst is a hands-on contributor responsible for supporting the Corporate Development team across the full transaction lifecycle, including sourcing, evaluation, and execution. This individual will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to deliver financial analysis, market insights, and transaction coordination.
This role reports into Corporate Development leadership and partners closely with business units, finance, legal, and strategy teams.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Market Intelligence
- Support development and maintenance of a pipeline of potential transaction opportunities.
- Track industry activity across public companies, private equity, and venture capital.
- Maintain internal databases of comparable transactions and market intelligence.
- Assist in managing inbound opportunities from investment banks and target companies.
Transaction Evaluation
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and industry assessments.
- Support strategic analyses including market sizing, customer segmentation, and business case development.
- Analyze financial statements, business plans, and pro forma models to identify key drivers and assumptions.
- Prepare summaries and insights to inform internal stakeholders and leadership discussions.
Transaction Execution & Due Diligence
- Support coordination of due diligence across functional areas (finance, legal, HR, operations, technology).
- Assist in tracking diligence progress, documentation, and information requests.
- Synthesize diligence findings and highlight key risks and considerations.
- Contribute to development of investment memoranda and executive-level presentation materials.
- Coordinate with external advisors including bankers, consultants, and legal counsel.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with internal stakeholders across business units and corporate functions to support transaction evaluation.
- Facilitate communication and information flow across cross-functional deal teams.
- Support alignment across stakeholders during transaction processes.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant experience in:
- Investment banking
- Corporate development
- Private equity / venture capital
- Transaction advisory or strategy
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or related field
Critical Skills
- Financial analysis and valuation: Strong foundation in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and analysis of company performance.
- Research and market insight: Ability to synthesize market data, competitive intelligence, and industry trends into actionable insights.
- Problem-solving: Structured thinker capable of breaking down complex business problems and identifying key drivers.
- Communication: Ability to clearly communicate analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Attention to detail: High degree of accuracy in financial analysis and deliverables.
- Collaboration: Effective team player with experience working across cross-functional environments.
- Project coordination: Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneously.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
- Experience supporting M&A transactions or strategic initiatives preferred
- Familiarity with financial tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, CapIQ, or PitchBook
- Exposure to working with external advisors (investment bankers, consultants, legal teams) preferred
- Healthcare or related industry experience preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or related field required
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
