Full Job Description
The Senior Licensing Manager is responsible for planning and addressing licensing matters, heavily focused on obtaining new alcohol licenses, renewing existing licenses and permits, resolving licensing disputes, and coordinating licensing for special events and promotions. You will work closely with all levels of the team, government agencies, and outside counsel, to ensure compliance with responsible alcohol service.
Specifically, you will do the following:
• Prepare alcohol licensing applications for new venues, and ensure alcohol licensing renewals for active venues.
• As part of the renewal process, manage officer and venue leadership changes that affect licensing.
• Handle licensing for special projects and events, such as concerts and other activations.
• Stay informed on regulations governing alcohol sale and service, and provide feedback on venue training and questions.
• Investigate and resolve inquiries from licensing agencies, including allegations of violations, internally or with assistance of outside counsel.
• Provide guidance on alcohol marketing questions, and due diligence when required for corporate transactions.
• coordinating operational permit applications and renewals, including building/occupancy permits, fire/security permits, and fleet permits.
• Assist with corporate governance and tax obligations.
• Maintain and update licensing database (Copliancy), process expenses, and manage license distribution.
Requirements:
• Experience (3+ years) with securing and renewing liquor licensing and permits
• Experience with industry databases (Copliancy, and government licensing portals)
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to think strategically and negotiate persuasively
• Effective time management and problem-solving skills
• Customer service driven and detail oriented
• Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably in a fast-paced environment
