Full Job Description
AWS Global Education is seeking a senior leader to own and drive the go-to-market strategy, thought leadership, and external ecosystem positioning for our Global Education vertical. This role spans Higher Education, Research, K-12, EdTech, and student skilling programs. It is responsible for how AWS is known, seen, and trusted in the global education community.

This is not a traditional business development or pipeline management role. It is a strategic positioning and thought leadership role that requires a player/coach who can personally build narratives, represent AWS on global stages, maintain relationships with world-class external organizations, and simultaneously lead and develop a small, high-performing team.

This leader draws upon education segment strategies to build a cohesive external narrative and go-to-market motion that positions AWS education as a unified whole. They own the thought leadership, GTM packaging, content, conference engagement, executive communications, and external ecosystem relationships that make that narrative real.

The right candidate operates at the intersection of education, technology, and business. They understand the education sector deeply enough to be credible with university presidents and ministry officials, they understand commercial technology well enough to articulate how AWS solves real problems for institutions, and they are senior enough to represent AWS alongside organizations like the World Economic Forum, Brookings Institution, QS/Holon IQ, and the Royal Anniversary Trust. They are a builder who has stood up organizations, not just inherited them, and they are comfortable navigating large, complex, political environments with significant autonomy.

Key job responsibilities

This role owns the overarching narrative for how AWS shows up in global education. You will draw from the strategies of each segment team to create a unified, clear message across Higher Education, Research, K-12, EdTech, and student skilling programs.

Externally, you represent AWS with organizations like the World Economic Forum, Brookings, Holon IQ, and the Royal Anniversary Trust, ensuring AWS has a seat at the table wherever the future of education is being shaped.

The role includes selecting and leading AWS's presence at major conferences and flagship events like re:Invent and Imagine, developing content and customer engagement strategies for each.

Internally, you develop executive talking points, go-to-market packages, enablement materials, and customer-facing content that equip teams across the organization to engage education customers with confidence. You connect the education team with adjacent functions including skills and workforce development, training, marketing, and professional services.

The position leads a small, distributed team as a hands-on player/coach.

About the team

The AWS Global Education team helps universities, research institutions, school systems, and education technology companies use cloud and AI to transform how they teach, discover, and operate. We work globally across every education segment and combine deep sector expertise with the ability to drive real business outcomes.

The Go-to-Market and Thought Leadership team builds the story AWS tells about education. It creates the narrative, chooses the conferences, develops the content, manages external ecosystem relationships, and ensures every team across AWS can engage education customers with clarity and credibility.

Diverse Experiences

AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let it stop you from applying.

- 5+ years of direct people management experience

- 5+ years of digital content management, communications, or content strategy experience

- Experience managing events/meetings in a global company

- 5+ years in external-facing roles requiring engagement with organizations outside the employer, such as industry associations, policy bodies, multilateral organizations, or partner institutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience developing and executing campaigns across a multitude of timezones and languages

- Experience building, managing and coaching a team in a high-growth environment

- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts

- Established network within the global education ecosystem, including relationships with policy organizations, industry associations, or multilateral bodies.
