Job Description Summary

               

Lamb Weston is seeking a skilled, self-motivated Senior Manager, Government Affairs to support and manage government affairs activities for the Company. This role is responsible for monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, developing policy positions, coordinating advocacy strategies, managing external stakeholder relationships, and partnering with business leaders to assess and respond to public policy risks and opportunities. The successful candidate will possess strong policy acumen, business judgment, communication skills, and the ability to drive cross-functional alignment on complex issues.

Job Description

  • Assist in the development and execution of the Company’s Government Affairs strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with officials and staff at the federal, state and local level to help influence policy developments impacting the company.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Company business units to identify emerging issues and make recommend a plan to address issues for Lamb Weston’s best interest.
  • Develop materials related to Government Affairs that prepare and support the business with identified issues, with the Communications Department, for internal and external audiences, as needed, to advocate the Company position.
  • Monitor, analyze and comment on federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory activity affecting the company's operations and strategic objectives.
  • Identify emerging public policy trends, assess business impacts, and recommend advocacy priorities, risk mitigation strategies, and stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Draft and distribute memos or releases, and generate department awareness.
  • May assist the organization at local meetings and supports VP in advocation for organizational interests in front of legislative or other relevant bodies.
  • May coordinate and oversee the work of external lobbyists and trade associations.
  • Serve as contact for legislative and public policy matters. Serves as company liaison to and fosters relationships with key members of government and industry groups to promote company interests.
  • May prepare policy briefings, testimony for pending legislative actions and provides thought leadership and recommendations.
     

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Government, Law, Business, Agriculture, Communications, or related discipline.
  • 6+ years experience in governmental affairs activity at any level, either in a company or at a trade association or from within government
  • Ability to understand technical language in legislative or regulatory proposals that could impact Company operations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Strong understanding of food and agriculture industry
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships and work collaboratively with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direction.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
  • Performs complex tasks and has some latitude for determining appropriate processes to follow.
  • Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information and data requiring care and discretion.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency, ability to multi-task, ability to handle unanticipated situations effectively, and work well under pressure with tight deadlines.

Pay Rate or Range: $146,840.00 - $220,250.00
