Offered Position: Sr Manager, Data Engineering

Job Location: Arlington, Virginia



Position Responsibilities:

Own a strategically important data architecture, major data product, and/or suite of data products with significant business impact. Responsible for establishing the right Data Engineering team structure and overall technology strategy to meet long-term business needs. Determine resources for large engineering initiatives and prioritize the resolution of endemic problems over current requests. Accountable for the execution and overall experience of engineering teams, the systems they create, the quality of the data they provide, and how they meet business goals. Partner with business leaders, technical managers, and Senior/Principal Engineers to determine the long-term viability of data architectures and product offerings, from business and technology standpoints. Consistently bring strong, data-driven business, and technical judgment to decisions. Understand the functionality, business drivers, and technologies behind the products and systems the team owns. Establish and support recurring business reviews, performance, and operational metrics. Lead successful senior engineers and managers through collaborative development planning, coaching, and strategic project assignment.

40 hours / week, 8:00am-5:00pm, Salary Range: $215,559/year to $273,700/year.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Product Design/Development, or a related field and three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation as equivalent to the Bachelor's degree and three years of experience. Must have one year of experience in the following skills: (1) leading a technical team in a customer-facing business development, business intelligence, product management, operations, or product support environment; (2) building self-service reporting solutions using business intelligence software; (3) experience with advanced SQL; (4) experiencing driving large-scale data engineering efforts that solve significantly complex or endemic problems for customers, business, or technology teams; and (5) experience decoupling system dependencies, prevent duplicate engineering efforts, and mitigate risks that lead to data quality issues that might cause deployment collisions and outages. Domestic and/or international travel up to 25% to perform role responsibilities may be required.#0000
