Full Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Sr. Manager, Customer Data Strategy and Governance will support Marketing, Online, Services and other business stakeholders in driving alignment on common customer definitions, business rules, data integration, data quality, and 3rd party data enrichment in order to ensure customer data is used as a strategic asset across the enterprise. The Sr. Manager will partner with cross-functional leaders across the organization to understand the customer data landscape and will have primary responsibility to ensure customer data quality across the organization in support of our Legal Compliance and business objectives. In their data governance role, this leader will partner with Legal, Internal Audit and IT Security to refine, manage and lead The Home Depot's Customer Data Governance process. The governance objectives will be to centralize oversight for customer data rules and access, to assess and provide ongoing monitoring of security protocols and internal business rules for accessing and using customer information, to refine rules and processes to request, evaluate and approve/deny access to customer information, and to communicate internally the rules and policies for such access. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for managing and developing direct reports.


Key Responsibilities:

  • 40% Driving and implementing a data quality / data management strategy for customer data across The Home Depot, including leading a team in extensive data analysis and prescribing technology, people and process solutions to provide the organization with a unique view of the customer across all customer data repositories
  • 20% Establishing and maintaining technology and process to support the creation and upkeep of an inventory of customer data across the organization, including the approval of any new data creation or sharing based on standards created by our Privacy partners
  • 20% Partnering with Privacy and Security to support appropriate data access as the data owner responsible for granting access to customer data across the organization. Responsible for enforcing the rules defined by the Privacy team related to data access in the data owner role
  • 10% Establishing and maintaining customer scorecards and data quality dashboards
  • 10% Provides leadership, mentoring and coaching to direct reports. Manages and coordinates strategic direction for staff. Attracts, retains, develops, and motivates top talent. Drives the development of leaders by conducting annual and mid-year reviews, reviewing individual development plans and providing performance feedback. Supports talent management efforts by monitoring the succession planning and selection process, as well as challenging and empowering leaders on individual development plans.


Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • This position reports to Director, Customer Data Strategy and Governance.
  • This position does not have direct reports.


Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to convey complex or technical ideas and processes in easy-to-understand terms to diverse audiences
  • 6-8 years of experience preferred
  • Experience in developing strategy (including a business and technology roadmap) for a functional area is preferred
  • Experience in customer master data management in a heavily cross-functional role in a B2C organization highly preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in customer data quality highly preferred


Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
