About the Role:We're building the next generation technologies that will power CrowdStrike for the next ten years - and we need a leader who can help us build the team that builds them. As Senior Manager of Cloud Engineering, you'll join a fast-moving, early-stage team taking a blank-slate approach to scaling our systems and using AI to stop breaches.
This is not a purely people management role. You'll be deeply embedded in the technical work - leading code reviews, driving architecture discussions and owning operational readiness - while simultaneously expanding and developing a growing engineering team.
Note: This is a hybrid role based out of our offices in
Redmond, WA, Sunnyvale, CA, Austin, TX, or NYC with an expectation of being in the office at least 2 days per week.
What You'll Do:- Step into an early-stage team that is partly in place and help shape, grow and scale
- Lead code reviews, architecture discussions and operational readiness reviews
- Define and drive the technical direction for significant components of our next-generation cloud architecture, collaborating with our most senior technologists
- Partner closely with desktop agent and AI teams
- Own and deliver large-scale, cross-functional engineering projects - from technical and architecture planning through to execution and accountability
- Champion continuous improvement through design reviews, post-mortems and engineering best practices
- Hire, develop and retain exceptional engineers
- Foster a culture that mirrors the best engineering traits: comfort with ambiguity, propensity to action and strong cross-team collaboration
What You'll Need:- B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience managing engineers, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
- Hands-on experience building and operating high-volume, highly resilient Tier-1 cloud services and systems
- Strong knowledge of Go, Java or similar technologies
- Demonstrated ability to own and deliver large, complex engineering projects across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Proven ability to operate with ambiguity and make sound technical decisions with limited information
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for what your team builds and ships
- Experience driving technical decisions and alignment across groups with competing priorities
- Ability to communicate complex technical ideas in writing and verbally
Bonus Points:- Experience managing machine learning (ML) or data engineering teams
- Experience scaling and developing an early-stage engineering team, building on an existing foundation rather than starting from zero
