The Category Site Merchandising team focuses on increasing digital topline sales by optimizing conversion and the overall site experience. The team plays a crucial role in ensuring findability and discoverability of products, making it easy for guests to locate and discover items. By partnering with various teams within and outside of the Digital organization, the team drives the right experience for each category. Additionally, the team is responsible for delivering financial outcomes and plans for the digital business, ensuring that financial goals are met and sustained.
As Senior Manager, Category Site Merchandising, you will lead a team responsible for managing the digital shopping experience across a portfolio of categories. Your team serves as the owner of the online category experience—ensuring the digital storefront is healthy, intuitive, discoverable, and optimized to deliver business results.
You will establish the strategic vision for your categories while coaching your team to use analytics, guest insights, and cross-functional partnerships to continuously improve the end-to-end shopping journey. This includes overseeing the health of the online catalog, prioritizing experience enhancements, leading Digital Roundtables, and ensuring your team delivers measurable improvements in discoverability, conversion, engagement, and sales.
As the leader of a Category Site Experience team, you will translate business priorities into scalable digital experience strategies that improve how guests discover, evaluate, and purchase products across Target's digital platforms.
Core Responsibilities
Category Experience Strategy & ExecutionDevelop and lead category site experience strategies that improve the end-to-end digital shopping journey. Partner closely with Merchandising, Marketing, Product, Operations, Item, Taxonomy, and Product Content teams to prioritize experience enhancements that support business objectives and guest needs.
Lead a team responsible for managing the health of Target's online catalog and digital storefront for assigned categories. Ensure guests can easily discover, navigate, evaluate, and purchase products through continuous optimization of experiences including search, browse, navigation, taxonomy, product recommendations, product detail pages, and other key digital touchpoints.
Establish standards and routines that proactively identify friction, improve discoverability, and maintain a healthy digital experience across the category.
Champion a data-driven approach to experience management by leveraging customer behavior, funnel analytics, business performance, competitive insights, and market trends to identify opportunities and prioritize improvements.
Guide the team in translating analytics into actionable recommendations that improve traffic, engagement, conversion, and overall digital experience.
Own category digital performance by balancing guest experience with financial outcomes. Ensure experience strategies contribute to topline sales, conversion, profitability, and long-term category growth while maintaining a healthy and scalable online experience.
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Category Site Experience team. Build analytical capability, customer-centric thinking, and strong operational discipline while fostering an environment of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Lead Digital Roundtables and influence cross-functional partners to align around a shared category experience strategy. Build strong partnerships across Merchandising, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Item, Taxonomy, Product Content, SEO, and Operations to execute improvements across the full customer journey.
Own the quarterly experience roadmap for your categories by identifying the highest-impact opportunities based on guest insights, business priorities, and experience analytics. Prioritize initiatives that improve the health of the online catalog, optimize critical shopping journeys, and support seasonal and business moments.
About You:

Demonstrated experience using analytics to improve customer experiences and business performance
Strong understanding of digital customer journeys, search, browse, navigation, product discovery, and conversion optimization
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives that improve digital experiences across multiple teams
Passion for improving customer experiences through data, experimentation, and continuous optimization
Demonstrated ability to lead teams responsible for managing complex digital experiences and operational excellence
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
