  • This job is a member of the Base Maintenance Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • Responsible for oversight and managing the aircraft maintenance workload, resources, and activities for terminal and/or hangar operations at maintenance stations in such a manner as to assure continuing safety, compliance, dependability, reliability and financial performance, with fair and harmonious relationships with the management team, TWU, internal customers, vendors, FAA, and all non-AA business contacts.


What you'll do

  • Oversees the daily Production requirements through subordinates
  • Provides short and long term strategic direction for department
  • Coaches and develops their team by providing feedback on performance and accountability
  • Builds, maintains, and strengthens relationships across all groups inside Technical Operations while looking for ways to remove barriers
  • Ensures team members are following procedures in order to ensure maximum efficiency, compliance and safety
  • Responsible for control of budgets and cost standards
  • Leads management staff to ensure that team members skills are utilized to the highest degree possible; leads coordination with Maintenance Training to ensure on-going enhancement of staff and skill set
  • Provides Supervisors regular feedback on their performance and develops the management team to create a strong leadership pipeline
  • Conducts regular meetings with Business Reviews and Boardwalks to ensure best possible communication, identification, and resolution of action items
  • Monitors the coordination of maintenance manpower requirements overtime and consistency with program scheduling and priorities
  • Ensures development, review and validation of maintenance requirements to ensure appropriate training for maintenance as well as leadership development
  • Ensures team members know, understand and are engaged in achieving critical Metrics and key performance indicators
  • Develops LEAN Improvement Strategy
  • Manages hangar flow of maintenance aircraft such as scheduled maintenance, mods and drop-ins by shift
  • Executes manpower deployment and shift production requirements


All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Aeronautics or related field or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years experience leading other supervisory management personnel
  • Experience in positions requiring budget understanding, resource forecasting and management and workload planning in maintenance environments
  • 5 years Aircraft Maintenance Operations or compliance equivalent experience
  • Experience managing, supervising and/or leading workgroups

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • 3 years leadership experience
  • Lean, Continuous Improvement or Six Sigma experience

Skills, Licenses & Certifications
  • A&P License
  • Excellent understanding of airline/technical operations
  • Knowledge of auditrequirements
  • Knowledge of labor reporting and crew utilization
  • Strong interpersonal and PC skills
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple areas of responsibility
  • Excellent analytical, organization and planning skills
  • Must pass a background reference check and criminal fingerprint check
  • Strong process analysis/development skills
  • Knowledge of the GPM and SPPM
  • Some travel may be required
