Responsibilities

  • Provide system maintenance and enhancements for the DHS Special Projects Team
  • Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to convert business requirements into technical specifications and code
  • Coordinate with IT support teams such as DBA's to ensure successful project development and implementation
  • Develop and execute unit tests and integration scripts to validate application changes
  • Participate in business acceptance and integration testing
  • Manage the full System Development Life Cycle and provide on-call production support

Full Job Description
Job Duties:
  • This position is responsible for providing system maintenance and enhancements for the DHS Special Projects Team.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications
  • Interface with business and IT teams to understand business requirements and translate business requirements into formal technical requirements and application code.
  • Work with IT support teams (ex. DBA's) to ensure support and project requirements are developed and successfully implemented
  • Develop and execute unit test and integration plans/scripts to validate that application changes meet technical specifications.
  • Work with business team to complete acceptance testing and participate in integration testing
  • Responsible for full System Development Life Cycle
  • On-call production support

Required Job Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in mainframe development
  • 10+ years and expert knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM and other mainframe technologies
  • Expert knowledge of DB2 Utilities (QMF and SPUFI)
  • Strong knowledge of IBM Utilities such as IEBGENER, IDCAMS, ICETOOL, DEBUGGER(CICS and Batch), FILE MANAGER, SORT, Fault Analyzer
  • Experience in all components of software delivery including requirements, design, development, and testing
  • Experience with CHANGEMAN and CONTROL-M Scheduling
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Experience with mainframe software development tools and platforms (z/OS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a team player

In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
