The Senior Learning Experience Designer serves as the educational design strategist for the Center for Academic & Research Excellence (CARE), leading the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative faculty learning experiences that support teaching excellence, scholarship, continuing professional development, and institutional strategic initiatives. This role partners with faculty, academic leaders, and subject matter experts to transform learning needs into engaging, technology-enabled educational solutions, including workshops, institutes, Communities of Practice, stackable microcredentials, and online learning experiences. The Senior Learning Experience Designer provides expertise in instructional design, educational technology, multimedia development, and learning analytics while driving continuous improvement, educational innovation, and scalable learning ecosystems across the university.
37Leads discovery activities, including learning needs assessments, performance analyses, stakeholder consultations, and educational planning.
37Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates faculty learning experiences, including workshops, institutes, Communities of Practice, stackable microcredentials, continuing professional development activities, and online learning.
37Partners with faculty, academic leaders, and subject matter experts to design evidence-based learning solutions aligned with institutional priorities.
37Builds engaging courses and digital learning experiences within Canvas and other learning technologies using evidence-based instructional design principles.
37Develops facilitator guides, participant workbooks, learner manuals, templates, toolkits, multimedia assets, storyboards, assessments, and implementation resources.
37Applies expertise in adult learning theory, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), accessibility standards, and inclusive educational practices.
37Serves as the educational technology and multimedia specialist, leveraging Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, H5P, Camtasia, Canva, Microsoft 365, AI technologies, and other instructional tools to create engaging learning experiences.
37Designs prototypes, pilots innovative educational solutions, and recommends emerging technologies that improve learner engagement and organizational effectiveness.
37Coaches faculty subject matter experts and mentors learning design partners throughout the educational design process.
37Supports accreditation, continuing professional development, scholarship initiatives, and educational quality improvement through planning, evaluation, documentation, and reporting.
37Analyzes learner data, learning analytics, and evaluation results to continuously improve educational effectiveness.
37Manages multiple strategic projects while ensuring quality, timelines, stakeholder engagement, and successful implementation.
Qualifications
Education
37Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Learning Sciences, Educational Technology, Adult Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Organizational Learning, or related field Required
37Doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Learning Sciences, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, Adult Education, or related discipline Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
37Association for Talent Development (ATD) credential (APTD or CPTD) Required
37Instructure Canvas Certifications Required
37Canvas Certified Technical Administrator Preferred
37Universal Design for Learning (UDL) training/certification Preferred
37IAAP or WCAG accessibility certification Preferred
37AI, instructional technology, or learning analytics certifications Preferred
Experience
377+ years learning experience design, instructional design, faculty development, organizational learning, or professional development Required
375+ years higher education experience Required
37Experience designing faculty learning programs and stackable microcredentials Preferred
37Experience teaching in higher education Preferred
37Experience supporting accredited continuing professional development or professional credentialing Preferred
37Experience serving as a Canvas or LMS administrator Preferred
37Expertise in learning experience design and instructional design methodologies.
37Knowledge of adult learning theory, andragogy, assessment design, curriculum development, and educational evaluation.
37Ability to conduct learning needs assessments, performance analyses, and gap analyses.
37Expertise designing competency-based, self-paced, instructor-led, hybrid, and online learning experiences.
37Advanced proficiency with Canvas LMS and enterprise learning technologies.
37Experience developing multimedia learning assets using Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Camtasia, H5P, Canva, Microsoft 365, and related technologies.
37AI literacy with demonstrated ability to leverage generative AI tools to improve learning design, workflow efficiency, and learner engagement.
37Knowledge of accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
37Strong project management, facilitation, communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills.
37Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
37Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and build collaborative partnerships across academic and administrative units.
37Strong analytical, organizational, and continuous improvement skills.
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.34 and $124,230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
