About the role you're consideringWe are seeking an experienced Migration Deployment Specialist - Scheduling (IZWS) to support large-scale mainframe scheduling migrations to IBM Z Workload Scheduler (IZWS). This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in batch scheduling conversions and plays a critical role in executing migration activities across development, test, and production sysplex environments. The ideal candidate combines deep z/OS expertise, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams-including application developers, schedulers, project managers, and customer stakeholders. This is a high-impact role focused on delivering accurate, efficient, and successful workload migrations through iterative execution and parallel tracking.
Your role - Lead and support the migration of batch scheduling workloads to IBM Z Workload Scheduler (IZWS)
- Analyze legacy scheduling platforms (e.g., CA-7, ESP, Jobtrac, Control-M) and translate definitions into IZWS structures
- Execute iterative migration cycles, including parallel tracking, validation, and dependency resolution
- Monitor batch workload execution using TSO/ISPF and IZWS tools, identifying issues and driving corrective actions
- Utilize and support operations through the Dynamic Workload Console
- Create, maintain, and update migration documentation, procedures, and reference materials
- Collaborate with application teams, system engineers, and operations to resolve migration challenges
- Provide technical guidance and training to schedulers, developers, and operations staff
- Support pre-migration cleanup and best-practice preparation activities for each sysplex
- Assist with project planning, estimation, and coordination with project management teams
Your skills and experience - 5+ years of mainframe experience (OS/390, z/OS) with strong knowledge of core system components and operations
- 5+ years of IBM Z Workload Scheduler (IZWS) experience, including workload design and monitoring
- Advanced proficiency in TSO/ISPF (editing, dataset management, utilities)
- Expert-level knowledge of Job Control Language (JCL), including troubleshooting and optimization
- Experience with REXX scripting for automation and efficiency improvement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is: $74,041 - $134,620
