Overview
Serving as a key technical leader within the Data and Analytics organization, the Senior IT Data Architect provides the thought leadership necessary to define architectural governance and security standards. This role bridges the gap between executive strategy and technical execution, ensuring that enterprise-wide standards are upheld to enable data engineering teams to build high-quality, secure solutions in accordance with Rentokil North America (RNA) data practices
Duties & Responsibilities
- Translate the Sr. Director's enterprise data strategy into actionable technical roadmaps and architectural patterns for the North America region
- Guide the development and lifecycle management of data solutions across reporting, predictive intelligence, and data science domains
- Lead the analysis and design of complex, high-impact projects, products, and shared infrastructure services to ensure they meet business requirements
- Proactively identify and socialize opportunities to simplify or rationalize the data platform to reduce technical debt and optimize cloud operational expenditures
- Directly supervise a team of 1-2 Data Architects by providing daily guidance, workload prioritization, and performance management
- Provide the thought leadership to define and maintain architectural governance, data modeling standards, and security protocols
- Serve as the final technical reviewer for architectural artifacts including models, schemas, and designs created by the team to ensure adherence to established RNA standards
- Partner with the VP of Business Intelligence and IT Data Engineering to ensure data integrity is maintained from various source systems into the centralized data repository
- Collaborate with the North America IT Leadership Team and Enterprise Architects to ensure data initiatives are aligned with broader IT infrastructure and global standards
- Lead the evaluation of new data tools and third-party technologies to ensure they integrate seamlessly into the existing ecosystem
- Act as the primary technical point of escalation for the data architecture function to resolve complex blockers before they require Director-level intervention
Candidate Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field OR equivalent years of experience. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of applicable professional experience for each year of college requested.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in data architecture or a related field with a track record of significant design contributions to enterprise-level solutions
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture teams and managing the professional development of technical direct reports
- Proven history of interacting with executive leadership to communicate architectural roadmaps and influence strategic technical decisions
- Experience implementing modern data platforms and managing the end-to-end system development life cycle (SDLC)
- Extensive background in managing large-scale information management practices and IT service management within a complex corporate environment
- Practical experience working with one or more recognized architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) to drive organizational standardization
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of data ecosystems, Big Data patterns, and the service offerings of major Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Expert understanding of data delivery paradigms including data fabric, data mesh, data warehouse, data lake house, and data lake architectures
- Mastery of data warehousing patterns such as Kappa and Lambda, as well as support for retrospective reporting, predictive analytics, and exploratory analytics.
- Expert knowledge across a broad set of data hosting platforms including RDBMS, "No SQL," data query tools, and persistent data models
- Deep technical proficiency in data visualization tools and enterprise-grade integration platforms
- Expert understanding of data engineering fundamentals and the specific data modeling characteristics required for high-performance analytics
- Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimization strategies to manage platform operational expenditures (Opex) effectively
