Roles and Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Designs and integrates computer system configurations in accordance with design criteria, security and performance objectives for defined systems.
  • Responsible for implementation of system design within project schedule.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Perform complex intermediate to advanced functional tests of computer systems.
  • Working knowledge of third-party software requirements for GE99s core products and knowledge of how to install and configure the required third-party software.
  • Working knowledge of third-party software configuration and network topology and configuration needed to comply with appropriate security standards.
  • Working knowledge of network equipment configuration needed for proper functioning of GE Vernova core products, third-party software and the systems on which they reside.
  • Working knowledge of main equipment vendor99s system specifications and configuration needed for the GE Vernova core products and third-party software residing on the systems.
  • Perform system design and resolve implementation issues with lead engineer; implements the design within the allowed schedule with general supervision.
  • Integrates computer & network hardware, operating system software, and third-party software.Helps configure network device functionality.
  • Support a secure system lifecycle with system installation, configuration and patching in adherence with given security standards.
  • Prepare system documentation, such as hardware design drawings, plans of system set-ups, cabling lists, project specific drawings and configuration reference manuals.
  • Provide input to technical lead on schedules and cost estimates
  • Interfaces with customers on specific projects or technical issues.
  • Provide limited marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
  • May be required to work extended hours.
  • Work onsite in a datacenter environment
  • Moving heavy equipment and storage boxes is a regular activity within job scope
  • Must be able to use telephone, PC monitor, mouse/track ball, and keyboard for extended periods of time to complete assigned task and duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor99s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer

  • Requires two (2) years system infrastructure design and integration experience in comparable systems.

  • Engineering, or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Industry Certificates are an asset.

Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong experience with system integration/design, networking, operating system / software installation and maintenance, help desk, and/or data storage technology, specifically with HPE, DELL, Cisco, Linux, Kubernetes (Rancher RKE), Windows, VMware & AWS systems.
  • Capable of hardware installation and configuration.Racking, Cabling and verifying correct operation.
  • Knowledge of: Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Visual Studio, git, Active Directory and NetApp arrays are an asset.
  • Networking knowledge using TCP/IP protocols.
  • Good PC skills required, including use of standard Windows Desktop, MS Office & Visio applications.
  • Understands technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction aligning with business goals.
  • Understands concepts of setting and driving architecture direction.
  • Familiar with elements of gathering architecture requirements.
  • Understands architecture standards concepts to apply to project work.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to write professional and technical reports and procedures.Ability to make informal presentations to technical and non-technical staff and customers.

Additional Information

 

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $115,000.00 and $172,500.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate99s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
