As a Sr. Industrial Project Manager for PCL Industrial Construction Co. in Houston, Texas, you'll have the opportunity to lead some of our most challenging industrial projects, bringing together people, resources, and expertise to deliver outstanding results while strengthening client partnerships and fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors the project team on one site or multiple sites dependent upon size and complexity.
  • Communicate with the project teams to define scope of work, project drivers, progress, schedule, cost, execution sequence, and change management.
  • Responsible for refining and executing the overall project strategy.
  • Collaborates with construction superintendent and project team.
  • Able to determine any action issues that impact project performance and communicate issues to all stakeholders.
  • Ensures consistency and adherence to site and district policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Oversee project budgets and schedules across a variety of project types and commercial models.
  • Implements and maintains project risk management procedures and coordinates risk mitigation strategies, including mentoring others.
  • Monitors project performance, schedule, cost, equipment, workforce, materials, HSE, and quality control.
  • Oversight of the set-up of project reporting procedures (i.e., labor, material, cost reports, site office procedures, and document control).
  • Reviews, acknowledges, and makes recommendations regarding performance status reports on safety, cost forecast, and schedule.
  • Approves all change orders, including negotiating, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact.
  • Assists in securing new work by participating in estimates, working with subcontractors, and/or making proposals and presentations.


Qualifications

  • 15 years of Heavy Industrial project management experience with proven ability to lead large-scale, complex projects.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale industrial projects with budgets of $150 million or more.
  • Advanced knowledge of the construction industry and company operations, specifically construction specifications, building materials, methods, and procedures.
  • Advanced understanding of contract language, commercial and schedule risk across all disciplines of a project.
  • Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with the client, consultants, trades and internal employees; ability to present at client meetings or for project pursuit work.
  • Advanced verbal, written, interpersonal, and public communication skills, and should be comfortable representing PCL externally at conferences or other industry events.
  • Advanced knowledge of different construction methods, sequencing, potential problems, and timelines across all industrial self-perform disciplines and various subcontracts.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management and estimating software programs, and engineering and construction management principles and practices.
  • Ability to work required project hours in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to proactively identify and mitigate/manage risk on large-scale and complex construction projects and mentor others.
  • Advanced ability to solve problems related to construction, sequencing, and staffing.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills to establish priorities and schedule work tasks and projects to ensure on-time completion of work priorities, including mentoring others.
  • Proven track record to manage trade partners' performance, including aligning cost control, scheduling and planning, quality, and HSE deliverables with PCL's expectations and the expectations of the prime contract.
  • Advanced contractual knowledge and ability to lead contract management for multiple delivery models, including negotiation, dispute resolution, and administration/execution on a project.
