Full Job Description
Position Overview:

Responsible for overseeing the compliance of merchandise, products, equipment, and materials across international borders in accordance with applicable U.S., Canada, Mexico, and global trade regulations, including federal, state, local, and country-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversees the compliance process for import / export transactions in accordance with applicable laws; prepares required invoices and state and federal declarations and supports regulatory requirements.

  • Ensures all import and export activities comply with applicable U.S. and international regulations and established procedures, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Confirms the accuracy and integrity of all product and trade data, including country of origin, HTS, ECCN, descriptions, and value within systems; performs and supports classification determinations and updates; conducts denied party screening and due diligence; and validates alignment with customs filings, physical shipments, and financial records.
  • Validates USMCA/FTA eligibility through review of supplier certifications; assesses accuracy of origin criteria; and works with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliant application of preferential duty programs.
  • Manages U.S. and Canada entry amendments through customs brokers; supports compliant filings; and performs root cause analysis of errors, discrepancies, and audit findings, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Identifies transactions requiring special handling or escalation; mentors junior Team Members on complex compliance scenarios; responds to customer and vendor surveys and contract language; and participates in regulatory research and special compliance initiatives.


Supports the management of import / export accounts and new business development.

  • Generates and presents regular reports and management summaries that highlight compliance performance, key risk areas, trends, and relevant metrics to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitors changes in trade regulations and industry best practices (e.g., customs, export controls, sanctions), assesses potential impacts to operations, and proactively communicates updates and required actions to internal stakeholders.
  • Analyzes existing processes and compliance controls to identify improvement opportunities, and provides actionable recommendations to enhance efficiency, strengthen compliance, and reduce operational and regulatory risk exposure.
  • Supports management of existing export accounts and new business development by ensuring transactions are properly set up and executed in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Assists with onboarding new vendors and items by ensuring required compliance data is obtained, validated, and maintained within systems and integrated into operational processes.


Provides liaison support between customers and internal teams, including Sales, Procurement, and Customer Service, to facilitate import / export shipments.

  • Proactively evaluates potential delays or compliance risks and collaborates with internal teams, customs brokers, and service providers to resolve issues efficiently and maintains delivery commitments.
  • Supports business and customer needs by calculating accurate landed costs, including duties, taxes, freight, and ancillary charges and provides reliable lead and transit times for planning and quoting purposes.
  • Supports Procurement in the selection and determination of appropriate Incoterms®, providing guidance on cost, risk transfer, and compliance implications; facilitates discussions and negotiations to ensure Incoterms align with business objectives, operational capabilities, and regulatory requirements.


Expected Skills, Qualifications, and Knowledge:

  • 4-7 years of experience in an import/export administration role (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Strong import / export knowledge and expertise in EAR, ITAR, HTS, ECCN, USMCA/FTA, denied party screening, and applicable customs regulations (CBP, CBSA, OFAC)
  • Ability to perform classifications, maintain accurate trade data, ensure compliant transactions, and resolve discrepancies
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills to support compliance, efficiency, and customer service
  • The ability to clearly communicate, receive, and interpret information across all levels of the organization
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field
  • Travel: Up to 10%

Compensation for this role ranges from 85000 $ - 100000 $ CAD per year, depending on experience and qualifications, in accordance with state law. All compensation offers are based on skill set, experience, and geographic location of the applicant as relevant to the role.
