Position Overview

The Novelis Oswego HR team is looking for a Human Resource Generalist. Reporting to the HR Manager, this position will be responsible for administrative support within the HR Team. This role is also a significant team member who has a strong impact on candidate and hiring manager experience by providing them support throughout the hourly recruiting process. The candidate must have strong skills with Microsoft Office applications as well as the ability learn multiple internal databases. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to develop and analyze reports and documentation from multiple sources. This candidate must have excellent communication skills as well as being able to work effectively with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, interview and hire the hourly workforce of 800 employees including but not limited to sourcing technical talent, intake sessions, candidate review and assessment scoring, and tracking, analyzing and reporting related metrics.
  • Work with the Hiring Managers, HRBPs, candidates, and other internal partners during hiring process
  • Support career and community events; handle preparation and logistics along with attendance.
  • Advise business leaders on HR protocols and solutions to enhance team performance and alignment with business goals.
  • Lead employee relations efforts and performance management processes, ensuring a productive and compliant work environment.
  • Collaborate with leadership to manage organizational change and workforce planning efforts.
  • Ensure HR practices align with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Provide a range of administrative support for the HR department to include but not limited to:
    • Handle the reliability of office machines
    • Ordering of supplies, maintaining official bulletin boards, mail distribution, etc.
    • Maintain SharePoint webpage and documents
    • Maintaining the HR Budget
    • Support in employee offboarding transactions
    • Scanning/filing of employee documents
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in a Human Resource or related role
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work at all levels of an organization effectively.
  • Strong problem solving capability and demonstrable ability to navigate priorities effectively
  • Customer Service oriented
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to perform work accurately and independently
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 5+ years HR or Talent Acquisition experience
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation
  • Previous experience using an ATS to manage requisitions, candidates, talent communities, communication, and data insights.
  • Experience in scheduling and navigating calendars

This role’s salary starts from $90,100 per year. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance. In addition to base salary, this position includes participation in a short-term incentive plan (Annual Incentive Plan - AIP or Plant Performance incentive - PPI).
