The
Sr. Global Field Application Scientist Liquid Handling and Automation is responsible for supporting the successful evaluation, implementation, and continued adoption of CellXpress.ai, with primary ownership of liquid handling scripting, application support, and automated workflow development.
This position reports to the VP, Global Commercial and is part of the Global Sales Team. The role is North America-based, fully remote, and requires approximately 50-70% travel, with an expected support split of approximately 80% North America and 20% global.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Serve as the application and liquid handling subject matter expert for CellXpress.ai customer evaluations, implementations, workflow optimization, and adoption.
- Develop, test, optimize, document, and troubleshoot liquid handling scripts and automated workflows, with emphasis on Hamilton liquid handling platforms.
- Translate customer cell culture protocols, laboratory processes, and acceptance criteria into reliable, repeatable, and scalable CellXpress.ai workflows.
- Support pre-sales technical discovery, workflow assessments, feasibility evaluations, product demonstrations, customer presentations, installations, training, and post-installation optimization.
- Diagnose and resolve application, scripting, workflow, labware, consumable, software, and hardware-related issues, coordinating escalation with service, software, engineering, and product teams as needed.
- Create and maintain workflow maps, scripting records, method specifications, training materials, troubleshooting guidance, and customer handoff documentation.
- Provide approximately 80% support to North American customers and commercial teams and 20% support to global customers, partners, and internal teams, with approximately 50-70% travel.
The essential requirements of the job include:- Bachelor's degree or higher in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of application experience supporting laboratory automation, automated liquid handling, cell culture automation, or related life science instrumentation.
- Hands-on experience with automated liquid handling method development, scripting, testing, optimization, and troubleshooting; Hamilton platform experience required.
- Experience translating manual laboratory protocols into automated application workflows, including workflow mapping, labware/consumable selection, and acceptance criteria documentation.
- Must be based in North America and able to travel approximately 50-70%, including overnight and international travel.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:- Previous Field Application Scientist, Field Application Specialist, or Applications Engineer experience supporting life science instrumentation, laboratory automation, or automated cell culture workflows.
- Experience supporting customer applications from initial discovery and feasibility testing through installation, validation, customer training, and post-installation optimization.
- Experience with automated cell culture, cell line development, cell-based assays, drug discovery, high-throughput screening, synthetic biology, genomic, or bioprocessing workflows.

The annual salary range for this role is $170,000 - $190,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
