Job SummaryUnder general supervision, responsible for supporting financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and operational analysis activities. Performs cost and margin analyses, prepares biweekly and monthly financial reports, and ensures the accurate recording of financial transactions through journal entry preparation and account reconciliations. Supports month-end close activities, inventory valuation, and balance sheet integrity while analyzing variances and business performance trends. Collaborates with operational and sales teams to provide financial insights, improve processes, and enhance internal controls. Assists with internal and external audits, special projects, and financial analyses to support management decision-making and organizational objectives
Job Duties/Responsibilities- Analyze data to determine costs of business activity such as inventory and labor costs.
- Monitors physical inventories and cycle count program providing support to enhance the process.
- Prepare and post monthly manual journal entries for location P&L and Balance Sheet accounts, ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, as well as other assigned duties.
- Reconciles finished, work-in-progress, raw goods inventories, and other projects and balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Assisting in the month-end close of General Ledger specifically to cost, manufacturing, and inventory but also other areas that might be assigned to enhance departmental controls.
- Partners with operations on accounting for POC projects including, tracking actual job costs, working with the Project Manager to capture the monthly POC forecast in the overall plant forecast, preparing the monthly POC entries, reviewing completed projects, and ensuring that all costs are captured to the job and job-related inventory movements are properly captured.
- Support initiatives for process improvements such as cost accounting, expense analysis, margin analysis or other opportunities.
- Support special projects or financial analysis when needed.
- Provide support for internal and external financial audits by following established procedures and maintaining proper documentation as required by internal controls.
- Perform job duties as assigned by the manager.
Skills/Knowledge- Possess and applies a knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices in a manufacturing environment are preferred.
- Intermediate PC skills, including intermediate Excel capabilities, such as pivot tables and advanced formulas Familiarity with business processes and products.
- Must be detail-oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple activities successfully with minimal supervision.
Education- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent.
Experience- 7+ years of experience in cost accounting or a Master's Degree with 5+ years of experience.
