Full Job Description
Primary purpose of the position:
The Senior Functional Analyst is responsible for leading efforts to analyze and define detailed specifications for business systems which map to business processes. Performs as an expert at driving solution delivery by facilitating requirements analysis and design activities with the business to accurately determine future system requirements. Ensures solutions are in alignment with the enterprise architecture blueprint, the solutions architecture and ensures that systems and application designs adhere to standards and policies. Ensures that all information technology investments are clearly aligned with the priorities of the business. Responsible for team guidance and delivery of complex, technical solutions to business needs.

Essential Responsible Areas:
  • Leads efforts to elicit future systems requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis to analyze, design and implementation business solutions for complex business problems.
  • Partner with business analysts and respective cross-functional business groups (e.g. Finance, HR, IT, etc...) to elicit functional and non-functional requirements
  • Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (functional requirements (business requirements document), use cases, GUI, screen and interface designs).
  • Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative business solutions that challenges the business on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.
  • Participate in defining the integration between proposed development projects and existing systems, software and hardware.
  • Ensures that systems and application designs adhere to standards and reflect the architecture appropriately.
  • Collaborates with other divisions IT leads as well as other stakeholders to align solution in support of the business' tactical and strategic plans. Aligns IT goals with business needs.
  • Researches emerging technologies and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness, improve flexibility or better support business requirements.
  • Work closely with third-party vendors including software providers, implementation partners, and consultants
  • Understand existing and anticipated application functionality, including cloud-based offerings, that meet business demand.
  • Assist the team with user acceptance testing requirements for existing and new application systems and modules
  • Partner with key strategic solutions partners for small and large scale engagements to help develop the vision of the technology service
  • Manage the configuration, setup, and maintenance of application-related solutions
  • Mentors other analysts on the team by providing guidance and hands-on solving of complex problems.


Professional & Education Qualification:
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 5 years minimum job related experience in manufacturing operations/IT/engineering. 5+ years development experience implementing solutions for complex systems supporting business processes. 3+ years of leadership.
  • Experience in driving software and technology solutions in large, complex organizations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and projects to drive business improvements
  • Experience in solution delivery, production support, and monitoring of information and operational technologies preferred
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, Factory Talk, Ethernet/IP a plus.
  • Experience performing engineering operations for Distributed Control (DCS) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) validation, commissioning, acceptance testing, risk assessments, and upgrades preferred. Dassault DELMIA Apriso for Manufacturing Execution Systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition a plus.
  • Experience with manufacturing network security protocols, GMP, ISA-95 models is preferred. Preferred exposure with Device Net, Control Net, Ethernet, Sercos, DH+ and RIO communication protocols.
  • Experience in service provision and troubleshooting of manufacturing support hardware and software systems preferred. Experience with Markem-Imaje and Keyence products is a plus.
  • SCADA systems experience is preferred.
  • Experience in driving process and technology re-engineering using industry practices e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, COBIT, ITIL, CMMi.


Skills:
  • Ability to be flexible about project changes and dynamically mitigate risks in the moment with mid-course corrective action
  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple, complex projects simultaneously
  • Appropriately manages customer expectations regarding scope, schedule, and budgetary parameters
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong estimation skills and techniques required.
  • Proven project planning and management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to learn new things
  • Knowledge of third-party integrators such as Open Automation Software, Top Server, Cogent DataHub configuration and maintenance is a plus.
  • Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to translate and clearly formulate technical issues for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Technical development experience, with knowledge of associated tools, and software development lifecycle experience
  • Up to 25% travel required


Knowledge:
  • In-depth technical knowledge and expertise in field; strong development skills in relevant technology.
  • Understanding of software quality principles, including test methodologies.
  • Business process knowledge preferred (e.g., Plan-to-Produce process, manufacturing execution systems).
  • Expertise in various software development methodologies and applicability, e.g., XP, iterative. Expertise in entire software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Exceptional understanding of software quality principles including test methodologies.


Compensation & Benefits:
  • Expected Hiring Salary Range: $85,900 - $119,890 (Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

  • Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).
