*This role requires someone to work from our Mountain View office 2x/week*
About the Role:As the Senior Full Stack Engineer, AI-Accelerated Delivery, you will own a suite of web and desktop applications spanning both customer-facing and internal platform tools - used by pilots in the field, by our operations teams, and across the business - along with the integrations that carry work through our solar, wind, properties, oil and gas, and construction verticals. You will own them from architecture through to production health, and you will lead through ownership rather than headcount: setting the technical bar, mentoring across the team, and staying hands-on.
This team is genuinely AI-native. We ship with coding agents as a matter of course and run an internal certification programme for AI-assisted engineering. We are looking for someone already further along that curve than we are, who wants to pull the team forward.
Responsibilities:
- Own the application suite and its vertical integrations end to end - architecture, delivery, production health and roadmap, in partnership with product
- Lead through ownership: set review and quality standards, mentor across the platform team, and stay hands-on
- Raise the ceiling on what the team delegates to coding agents - the workflows, the standards, the tooling
- Define service levels for the applications you own, build the observability to hold them, and lead incident response
- Own the path from field-reported issue to specified, prioritised work
- Champion automated testing, end-to-end coverage and CI/CD, and partner with the platform architect on cross-cutting design
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated mastery of agentic development - you delegate meaningful work to coding agents end to end, have opinions about context and specification quality, and can point to workflows others adopted
- 6+ years of full stack development, with a track record of owning a product area end to end, including mentoring other engineers
- Strong backend and frontend fundamentals, with production experience in both a modern JavaScript framework and a server-side web framework
- Relational database experience
- Experience reviewing AI-generated code at volume, with a clear standard for what you ship
- Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and available for Pacific business-hours collaboration and support escalation
Day-to-Day Tools/Technical Environment:
- Java, Spring Boot - please note: we will be transitioning from Ruby on Rails to Java Spring Boot
- Ruby on Rails, React, and Electron for desktop
- PostgreSQL
- AI coding agents - Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor - as part of daily delivery
- AWS (Lambda, EC2, ECS/Fargate, S3, Step Functions) and Docker
- Async job processing with Sidekiq, Redis, SQS, ActiveMQ and Kafka
- End-to-end automation with Playwright and Cypress
- Sentry, Grafana and PagerDuty for observability and incident response
- Ember (legacy, being migrated), with Python and Java elsewhere on the platform
What's Included:
- Feel great about your work as you join a leading mission-driven intelligent aerial imaging company - our goal is to accelerate the global transition to renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure, and you personally will play a large part in making this happen!
- Work-from-home environment: flexibility for employees should be the norm for companies
- Autonomy and upward mobility
- Diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture: a place where your voice matters
- Your choice of multiple medical insurance plans, including options with an HSA and 100% coverage of the premium for yourself and your dependents
- 100% paid dental and vision insurance
- Unlimited PTO: We mean it when we say we prioritize work-life balance and mental health
This role has a base salary range of $210,000- $225,000 USD, plus a target annual bonus and eligibility for stock options. Actual compensation may vary based on experience and skills.
